View Full Version : December: When Are You Free For A Meet?

Blue Bomber

K, looks like next weekend is pretty much a bust for a meet. So on to December! We have 3 non holiday weekends to work with. I guess we'll figure out the best weekend first, then Sat or Sun, and finally, a location.

A meet in December would be great but I personally think we should make one in feb-march. The more time we have to plan the more people will show. So far it looks like the most is 4 on one date. Something over 10 would be worth going to. The bigger the better!

Blue Bomber

Any nice roads in the area? Smaller numbers would work better for a cruise.

:thumbdownWorked very well at the meet I went to in NY last month. Huge turnout, but we went on the mountain run in groups of around 10 cars. Nobody got lost. The next day in NH was another run. Again about 10 cars, and only 1 got lost.

theres is no such thing as nice roads here lol unless you want to go for like a night cruise lol and then we run the risk of a deer destroying our little ass cars lol

2KGTrd
11-29-2010, 11:26 AM
i say we do it at gainsevile raceway since there is going to be a huge autocross event going on.
Perfect time to run your car hard in a legal scenario and get to meet all the celica guys/ladies

Sorry to disagree, but small meets go way better when all ppl engaged in some sort of activity like grilling or cruising together or taking group pictures, chit chatting and not have half the ppl do autocrossing and the other half shoot the **** in the parking lot, plus there's going to be other non celica cars... just not a celica meet...

2KGTrd

okay so no go on the raceway then. Somewhere else in Gainesville perhaps? Somewhere around there?

creekboi7
11-30-2010, 07:29 AM
i know of a raceway where they allow private meets in orlando. central florida raceway. the only thing is that they have events on friday and saturday nights. so idk if they would allow a meet during the day. :shrugs: heres a link to their page incase anyone wants to look into it. http://cfracingcomplex.com/

on the bright side, we can plan something out for the future on a date when they arent booked

$25 per person for 10 min of track time. Not sure if that includes a helmet. I went there in April, and it was certainly worth the price of admission. We had a group rate, so if we can get some confirmed ppl, maybe we can get a discount, too.

Well there is a restaurant need my house that has a huge parking lot (always common place for car meet). And right down the road (less than a mile) is an indoor go-kart track ( electric but rated at 50+ mph). I dont know how you pull up the aerial views of the parking lot but here the the addresses for both places.

Restaurant:
Quaker Steak and Lube
10400 49th Street North
Clearwater, FL 33762-5023

Go-Karts:

Hmm, is there anything in the area to do after karts/food? That's probably the biggest thing, since, unless you have deep pockets, the karting won't last very long. I have no clue about the area, and just found D&B in Jacksonville out of luck, since someone in the office was talking about it.

I was checking both tracks, and I guess you get what you pay for. The gas track is almost 2x as expensive as the electric track, but it's 2x longer, with faster karts and a longer session (electric is lap limited, gas is time limited). Not to mention the raw feeling of a gas engine behind you and pavement underneath you. ;)

My car is going to be equipped with the"girlfriend" mod so I won't be able to drive fast :gap: But we'll tag along...:owned:

Just pull your speedo needle off the day before and set it 10... um, maybe 20mph lower. :gap: Besides, no matter how fast we go, there will definitely be people going faster. Not many places for cops to hide, either.

0.o

Even today, the improvement in image quality from the very best point and shoot out there (Canon G12) to Nikon's lowest DSLR (D3100) is insane. DSLRs are just in a completely different league. Like a Celica vs an M3 and beyond. ;)
