View Full Version : Strange result of Turtle-wax

Hi,
I waxed my celi today with "Turtle Wax liquid wax +teflon" it is supposed to be the same as the original turtle wax liquid wax but with teflon protection.
So I waxed, let dry, buffed and polished and honestly I can't find any difference between before and after...
If there's anymore glow it is soooo subtle...
I assume paste waxes are probably better, but It's strange isn't it? Plus my car is 2 years old and had never been waxed before, only washed.
BTW I used cotton towel to apply wax and pure cotton pieces to buff.

There lies your problem. A routine wash schedule is good but without regular waxing the finish will go dull. I don't have experience with Turtle-Wax products as of late so I don't know their merits. I would suggest using a claybar on the car to remove the contaminants that have built up in the past 2 years. Once the paint is clean (you will notice how smooth it feels compared to an area that hasn't been clayed) you can try the Turtle-Wax again. If it still doesn't give the results you are looking for try a different brand.
You can read up here on "Clay Bar" and "Waxing", best of luck.

dont get suckered into those st00pid "teflon" products. there is no evidence that it helps your paint.

The only way you can apply Teflon to a surface is to bake it on, and I'm not talking about by using the kind of heat generated by leaving a car out in the sun.

Your biggest problem is that your paint has most likely already been thrashed....this and Turtle Wax products suck. Use Meguiars Clay Bay, followed by #2 fine-cut cleaner to prep your paint before you even think about waxing all the crud into your paint. You'll just make it worse.
