Induction whistle normal???

Lately I've been hearing something which sounds like a high pitched induction whistle emanating from the engine bay. It gets progressively louder as the rpm increases right up to and through vvtl-i. I just got my car back from its first service a couple of days ago so hopefully the dealer didn't mess something up. I'm almost certain I never heard this noise before... but then again I usually have music playing and possibly never noticed. Anyone else experience the same thing or know what it could be??

I'm assuming that you're talking about something other than the pshhhhh noise associated with CAIs and other aftermarket intakes.

The sound that you're hearing is perfectly normal, I also heard it in my CRX before I installed an aftermarket intake in that car. Sounds pretty kewl if you're listening for it. ;)

Yeah you're right, it does sound kinda cool! I forgot to mention that my car is a completely stock '01 GT-S...

haha, my GF asked me what that sound was before and I told her it was my "nerbo" hehe, and just chuckled to myself. I made up a whole complicated story about it and she fully bought it. I hope she didn't go spitting that story to anyone else, LOL! :rofl:

mine does that to, i don't think it is the belt teinsor, it's more like a turbo whistle but not quite as loud as that would be. i noticed my car doing that from day one. put a short ram intake on it and it still does it. it is pretty neat.

probably belt tensioner... i believe there is replacement belt tentioner from Toyota cuz old belt tentioner had some problems.
