Recently, my (factory) keyless entry lost it's "beep" on lock and "beep-beep" on unlock. Anyone else have this happen? Anyone fix it or have it fixed?

i don't have the factory alarm, so I can't tell you exactly how, but i've seen people talking about this...check in your manual there is a way to reprogram it

there is a little button under the steering wheel over the to the left of the clutch thats black, press it and turn the car on,

this probably started happening after you took it to a shop or the dealership all they did was put in vallet mode

where exactly is it located? underside of the dash, way over to the left? Is the button visible without crawling under the steering wheel?

How do you get rid of the beep? push it in (on/off)?
I've been trying to get rid of that damn beep for a long time

I'll try looking for that button, but I don't think that's it...the beep has died over a period of time...for a while I got inconsistent sounding beeps...now they're pretty much gone, save for a really weak sounding one here or there

There's some sort of formula for getting rid of those beeps. You turn the key to the "on" position and push the red button to the left 6 times or something like that. I'll look in my instruction book when I leave for lunch and post back later.

I've been trying to get rid of the beep (it's annoying late at night). There is NO method of removing it listed in the Alarm manual that came with the car. You can change which doors unlock upon disarming as well as a few other things, but you can't stop the beep. There was a thread about this a few months age and a few people posted pictures showing the "beep" emitting device under the hood and how to make it quieter or silence it all together (snip snip). Hope this helps..

For the factory VIP RS-3200 alarm, the beep is created by a small "speaker" under the hood, near the fuse/breaker box.

If that unit failed, then the sound will stop.

To verify the operation, cut the wires to the "speaker". Apply 12V to the "speaker". If a tone is created, then it is working.

Also, cutting and insulating the wires will remove the beep.

Ok, my manual isn't in my car, so I'll have to check when I get home. You may have a different alarm or manual (my manual has no documentation on how to disable the automatic door locks; I don't care much for that feature either). I disabled my beeps a month ago reading the directions straight from the manual.

If I can remember to, I'll post the directions from my manual word for word over the weekend. Hopefully we have the same alarm.

This comes from the instruction manual:

Horn chirps can be turned off. The system must be "disarmed". Then follow the steps below:

1. Start with the L.E.D. valet switch in the off position. Then turn the vehicle's ignition key on and then off.

2. Within 10 seconds, cycle the L.E.D. valet switch to on and then off three times (press and release the switch 6 times).

3. If the chirps were on before you started, then you will hear 2 chirps indicating that they have been turned off.

4. If the chirps were off before you started, then you will hear 1 chirp indicating that they have been turned on.

Apparently, you can't turn off the 3 and 4 chirp intrusion indicator, but this will get rid of the annoying beep every time you lock/unlock your doors. Good luck with it!

I think you have a factory alarm. Most of the rest of us have the "dealer installed" VIP RS3200 which doesn't have a thing to get rid of the beep (that I've found). I still have a glint of hope though. :'( sniff sniff

I was afraid we might have different alarms. The beeps were annoying as heck - I'd go nuts if I couldn't get rid of them.
