Changin the ac and cig lighter control to red??? [Archive]

well ive had my red gauges for a while and changed the clock to red but how do i change the center console lights to red?
is there any bulbs that i can just plug into the ones allready in there???
i just dont want to paint the bulbs red to get this.
it would be nice to get the same color as the led's in the gauge cluster...

i thought someone posted that you couldnt get into the clock's LEDs or something. i think they posted that the only way to change the clock was through a see through color film, but then it still wont shine through as bright and wouldnt be the color you want (since the clock is green).

yeah, ive changed the clock and its really dim but its fine at night.

Paint is the answer, you cant get colored bulbs that small...I asked all around, even the hammer said you will have to paint the bulbs...Member of TC here..

Get the Tamiya transparent red paint and paint 'em. You can get red and blue. And as far as the clock goes, it is made by Futaba and I ran a search on its part number and they only make it in green. Someone I think once looked into getting red clocks (Futaba does custom stuff too) and it would be really expensive. I will definitely check into that again.

transparent red sheet.
just cut a little piece off and put it in front of the screen.

well.. i found the bulbs....

downside.... they're $10/each and minimum order is 18... i don't have the cash sitting around right now, but will get some soon

What about the clock from the Matrix? It's red. It should only be a matter of attaching the Matrix's clock to the lens part of the Celica's clock's housing (clock and housing are two separate pieces).

i've tried some LEDs but they are so directional that only the middle lights up good. the sides are hardly lit at all. i was going to try mounting more leds on each side by drilling and stuff but then i heard someone say they used a indiglo wire stuff and had a pic and it looked really good, so i'll try that first. i've also tried taking the caps off and putting filters in front of the parts that are lit up. that took a lot of work, but it worked. it also didn't light up too good on the sides, and the knobs still weren't blue and other stuff wasn't blue since i didn't get filters everywhere, so i decided that wouldn't cut it either.

This is what the guy did over on the TL forum, and this is what SkunkKiller did also, I think, to change the A/C console lights and Cig lighter on the Celica. They bought directional LEDs and used a resister to make sure that the LEDs would not burn out b/c of too much power.

i am thinking about redding my cig and ac controls and i thought it works to use some clear red paint on the bulbs behind teh ac controls..havent done it yet..where are those bulbs anyway? easisest way to access them?

To get the a/c lighting brighter, I was thinking about positioning small mirrors in the right locations, any ideas on this? Skunk did mine but they're not that bright. What's up Chuck :D

yeah what a ****ty job huh. i ran new power and ground after he broke mine to see how it would look. it looked like crap and i wish i didn't get my car broke for that. so i just unhooked it. i'm going to try to get some neon wire stuff, i've heard that works pretty good. that at least i can run all over so that all of it will light up.

i bought those bulb condoms but they dont look good.
they make it an off red.
all i have is blue turn signals with everything else red lauren:(

ehhh if anything i might switch to hyper white turn signals to make the entire headlight look clear.
the reason i got rid of the orange blinker is because it the housing it looked like ass.
the blue looks much better and white would look better for the headlights.
the red reminds me of the orange:(

Which one did you get 1156 or 1157??
I've checked out both and both doesn't fit right without modification... cause the little bump on the base where it goes into the socket isn't same with Celica socket...
One fit but other is on exact opposite side... but in Celica.. one is off to other side....
So when I install it.. I had to gride off one bump to make it fit.... and put some paper for tight fit.. I didn't make it tight enough and it fell inside of the blinker case.. it was pain in the asss to take that out....

You won't be able to get it clear because I think all hiper white have a blue tint to it. Maybe I'm wrong, I have try to look for a hiper white without the blue tint myself but couldn't find one.

You need titanium light bulb to make it clear look...
It's not clear but it's silver color... hide the actual bulb color...

it wasnt a real big deal at all for me. the bump grinded of on concrete in about 2 seconds. i mean it was way easier than i thought. fit was still totally tight. maybe you just grinded it too much.

Yeah, what does it flash and where do you get it from?

I like the new Jetta side marker. It have a silver plastic cup on top of the bulb covering the orange color but have a little space underneath to let the light comes out. the orange lights reflect from teh mirror image in teh side marker.
