Ok..we all know toyota doesnt have the best designer seeing as how we have red gauges, green stereo backlights and a 5 cent clock..but does anyone know if anyone makes a clock to put into place of our stock clock. Perhaps something that has a red backlight that matches the gauges or indiglo to match reverse gauges. And if that were the case, its not that hard to put a digital compass and temp into that as well..nice big readable numbers with a brightness setting and a mode switch.
Nothing fancy like mpg or distance travelled...
just time, temp and direction. You can get a gadget that does those for like $10...i wouldnt think this mod would cost more than $40-$50 which i would gladly pay to replace one of the dumbest looking clocks in a sports car that i can think of. I know its just a clock but i mean geez. does this exist or is this something for someone to get on.
who else would buy something like this for $50

you can get a clock that looks like an aftermarket guage....
i think autometer makes them... not sure though... look around.. I am sure you'll find it....

Actually, I like the setup that was designed. I like the orange on black (very similar to bimmers) and the green in the stereo matches the interior very well. I have no comment on Toyota's "My first car stereo" designs, although the buttons are huge for your safety.

no, you want huge buttons, look inside of a ford! those things are so big you could use your whole hand to push them!

I like the big buttons. I had a Pioneer in my last car, and the dinky buttons hurt my fingers. :( Plus, a few of them broke after a year or so. Until I can find a good double DIN stereo for my car with decent sized buttons (and a decent price ;) ), the stock stereo is staying.

oops sorry how old are you? 60? 70?
I didn't say I want a BMW. But if your not ignorant, you would know that BMW's are built to very high standards. And almost everything on that car was done for specific reasons (like choosing red on black for their tach display). BMW's are very high quality cars. I just don't like the Social status that tends to go with it.
Sorry, but I see things from a Design perspective. The Tach and the Center console are totally different areas. Sure orange would have been ok to use for the radio, but the green matches the center console much better.

well like so i guess there really isnt a clock.. i was talking to my friend who is an electrical engineer and he said it really wouldnt be that hard to make a clock that would fit perfectly, complete with temp, compass and a backlite in either orange or green..
would anyone be interested? he is going to try to design on in the lab that he works using their equipment. he wont get in trouble cuz hes got reign over those labs...perhaps if there was a demand they could be mass produced!
i dunno i definltey at least want him to make me one.
he's good with soldering too so i guess ill give him my stereo for the orange leds...i hate the green..i hate the gree..i hate the green.
