Im broke but at the same time I wanna make this car look better on its stock wheels. Im wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some decent lowering springs. Ideally id get struts and coilovers but I can't afford it so im goin rice (until further notice)

The ricer way is usually to cut the stock springs or to heat them. :chuckles:

Back to OP - Dropping on springs doesn't make you a ricer. It's a choice depending on how low you want to go. From .5" to 2", lowering springs are the cheap solution. Note: You'd probably have to replace your stock struts/shocks eventually.
If you're trying to go lower, coilovers are the way to go.
It's pretty proportional - the lower you go, to more you'll pay.
You gotta pay to play.
I picked up a temporary set of Sprint Performance Springs - 2" drop front and rear. It'll suit my needs until I save up enough for a set of coilovers. It cost me about $100 shipped.

The best thing to do is cut the bump stop. Cut the springs into 1/4 and 3/4 lengths and use the 1/4 length and toss the 3/4 length. If you remove the struts and only have springs it works even better.
TRD lowing springs are only around 160ish, if you buy Ebay ones you'll be wasting money. If you're seriously going to cut springs/heat them why don't you sell you car and buy a honda?

I like my Tein lowering springs. It's 1.25 F and 1.50 R I THINK. Not too sure but it's low enough for me where I live and with my lip. Front is about 2'' from ground with lip. Believe there's still one for sale in the FS thread from celicagts2000 <--something like that.

if you have the S-Tech's (like me), then its a 1.4" drop all around. if you have the H-Techs have a 0.8" drop all around.

honestly i was really close to buying lowering springs.. but right before i was going to buy them i found out i already had 2 blown struts (one in front, one in the back).
i figured it would be pointless to buy new stock struts and pontentialy ruin them over time with springs that werent meant for them. then later on i might want it lower and id be spending just as much again :/

You won't get 2" out of the TRDs, lucky if you get 1.25 out of them, in practice they drop about 1".

Sprint Performance Springs.
have you had those personally? im pretty sure my struts are good, otherwise id wait for coilovers. im not racing so i just want it lower without a terrible ride. i love the price of those too.

Try Eibach Sportline springs. They're 1.8"/2.4" drop if I remember correctly. The spring rates are relatively soft so I believe stock shocks will be able to handle them without too much bounciness. However, expect that drop to blow out your stock shocks though. All lowering springs will blow out your stock shocks prematurely anyways though :shrugs:

Love the drop of this. Most springs don't drop low enough in the rear since the stock Celica has a gigantic wheel gap in the back. This drop is perfect. I'm glad I got this over S-Tech.
Get the KYB GR-2 or AGX with it though. There's no point reusing stock shocks when they will blow later and labor is expensive.
Most people will tell you to get coils but unless its a show car or you compete in autocross, there's no point dropping that kind of money in the car.

Don't get the KYB GR-2 to use with this. Those are stock replacements so I don't think they'll be able to handle that drop for a very long either.
If you're good with wrenches, they're not hard to install. It's just the alignment afterwards that will cost some money.

okay so lowering springs/stock struts or lowering springs/better struts or coilovers? im not autocrossing and its deffinately not a show car. i just wanna whip around turns faster, also my car has the stock body/stock wheels so I need to add some masculinity by droppin it. roads are still terrible here with salt and frost heaves from winter so wheels are gunna wait till summer

I think for you it'd be better to save for coilovers so you can raise your ride height back up for the winter.

You could buy some springs that came off a Civic, those bolt right on. Then just cut them with like a saw to get the low you want.
