Yes, I know this question reveals that I don't know a lot about engines. But I do love my 5 speed 2000 gt. Can somebody explain to me what exactly the differences are between a gt and a gts? Is it possible to make a gt a gts without an engine swap? How much would this cost? Cheaper to sell the gt and buy a gts? I would like to get more power out of my gt but I would hate to put 5 grand into it and then get smoked by a gts. Thanks!

difference is GT-S has the stronger/more powerful motor, thats really it.

no it is not possible to make a gt into a gt-s with out and engine swap because then it will never be a gt-s

cost? somewhere in the 3-5 thousand range?

yes, cheaper, smarter, to sell gt and buy a real gt-s

good luck

It is toyota' s fault for making the celica look fast, so I feel that it is false advertisment. And if you were only able to get the gt, then its even more relevant. So don't be alarmed about what info lies ahead of how much you gotta spend to make very little horsepower.

Or about double posting threads. There's about a 20 minute time difference; was it necessary to make a thread in two different sections?

this question has been covered in many ways..
search the forms
theres a good chance you'll find everything you need to know about the difference between vvti and vvtli... what you can buy to get the most (a small amount) of power out of a vvti... your options when your looking into induction for even more power (expensive).. and you can easily find all the swaps that have taken place here and the amount of work and effort that it took that specific person to do it.

^ Truer words never spoken (or in this case written) :gap: I was at a car show when a lady came and asked if my car was fast. I smiled and asked her if I looked delusional. She was stunned to find out its not, she swore it LOOKS fast. I told her it just gives people more time to admire it as I slowly drive by lol

In the GT trim it might be 35 mpg all highway. Its not 40 mpg. Talk about an exaggeration.

idk man ive gotten 40 miles per gallon b4, yet again my car is more free flowing. I have gotten an 06 explorer to 49 MPG windows up, heater on to get the hot air out of the engine bay, going 55 MPH, electricity off, going down hill on the highway. Sucked so much because it wasnt me who had control of the car.
