Since I've bought my new 2002 celica GT-S there has usually been this squeaking noise when I turn the wheel at crawl speeds. This annoyance goes away once I start driving. The noise seems to be worse when I turn the wheel left. I only seem to notice it in the morning. Initially I thought it might be the car just breaking in but now that I have over 6k on the odo, I think it may be an actual problem. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I'm probably gonna take it to the dealer in the next week or two. It would just be nice if I had some idea what the problem might be. If anyone has any suggestions then please email me. Sounds alot like a CV joint to me... espically if it is worse when turning on one side than the other

I have a 2001 Auto GT... and I get this too, when turning left or backing out in either direction. It's only at slow creeping speeds.. i thought it was just something new that had been added on the car when I bought it, but I've put 3000 miles on it and it still does it. It doesn't seem to be a big problem, but the fact it's doing it bothers me.

pretty common problems it seems.

I get it to, in the morning, when I get out of my driveway. I think it's the brakes?

Is it a ticking sound or more of a creak? CV joints click when turning if they're bad. I'd be more tempted to say something in the power steering system, because I've been noticing the same sound lately in mine.

I never had this, but when the Celica first came out there was a common problem with the dealerships forgetting to remove a piece from the springs that is put on while shipping the car. Probably not it, but worth a shot.

My car just went in today for a weird clumping noise sounding like it's coming from the steering. You can feel it in the steering to. Sounded like much of what you describe then suddenly got a lot worse today.

They ordered a new steering rack, my car has 75,000kms on it or around 40-45000 miles.
