I just got my car back from toyota for that problem. They ended up replacing the entire transmission with a new one because they said my input shaft was not milled properly at the factory which was what caused the problems in the first place. All this under warranty, starting out as a 2nd gear grind then going to a 3rd gear grind. I just got it back today so I'm still breaking it in.. I will hit lift after about 500 miles or so, and know if it grinds or not.. BTW, the new shift gates SUCK! I keep hitting 3rd and 2nd gates because I'm used to it being closer... Oh well, alteast it won't grind!

They can't void your transmission warranty because of an exhaust and some suspension mods. Those mods have nothing to do with the transmission.

As I've learned, they can do whatever the hell they want until you force them to do differently.

Federal law states that a "performace part" can not void the warrenty on the whole car. It can only void the warrenty on the failed part IF the performance part caused the failure. Example: If you install an intake wrong and and a broken piece of the intake got sucked in the engine and blew the engine, this would void the warrenty on the engine only. The intake would have no Toyota warrenty if it was lets say an AEM. So you would only loose the warrenty on the intake and engine. Not any other part. Here is another example: Lets say that you install an intake and for no reason you blow a piston ring. If the intake did not cause the blown piston ring then they can not blame it on your intake and can not loose your warrenty.
Contact SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) and ask them for info on the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1987.
Until you do that read this...

unless your tranny pan had scaped holes in it- i dont se how the HECK suspension work voided it. exaust COULD cause it in theory- if the extra power of the exuast (3-4 ft/lbs torque :chuckles: ) wore out your tranny. go to another dealership - your in cali- there are tons of em!
