I just got a 2000 Celica after I wrecked my Mustang annnnd I want to do some stuff to it, but I just don't know what.
I know I want to get new rims and paint them white, redo the tinting, and black out the headlights; but what to make it sound and drive faster?

Suggestions please.

Many will say its pointless to fix up an auto gt for speed but I myself have one and I added a aem cai and a hks exhaust...sounds pretty good to me

not much you can do, just get an exhaust and call it a day, go for looks because its pointless for a GT even a 5spd

i think that's just a matter of opinion.

ughh.
i wish i could drive manual, but i fail so bad.
it limits me with my car now :/

i don't want to have a car that looks or sounds like it's nice when it's just stock on the inside.

^ For now you should just go for looks and sounds until you can get a different car that's actually worth modding performance wise :gap:

mmm, i suppose.
we'll see if i think it's worth it after i save up some more :3

You'll never learn how to drive a standard transmission until you actually own one and learn it. You just have to kill it a few times and then work on technique from there. I've driven 2,3,4,5, and 6 speed transmissions and am STILL learning how to finesse everything.

With an automatic GT, DON'T waste any money on performance parts... Enjoy the great gas mileage and make it look sexy.

i don't want to go all out with it, if that's what everyone is thinking, haha (:
i'm not that crazy.

my mom has a 5spd but i hardly have time to even try any more with it :/

& i dunno about slamming it, haha

I didn't know how to drive manual until i bought my celica, I practice everyday for about 1-2 hours lol. It took me a week but it was worth it

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: Unless you want to turbo it, do not spend money on making an auto GT fast. Get an intake and call it a day on the speed side. Get some nice wheels/drop and you're all set.

I bought my Celica without knowing how to drive stick. When your car is a stick and there's nothing else to drive you will be forced to learn stick. I had a couple of buddies teach me the basics. Once I was able get the car rolling without gas I drove on the streets at midnight or in the early hours of morning for hours on an end just so I could practice being smoother and faster (as in not slowing down the flow of traffic, not being reckless) on the actual street without having to deal with many other drivers. Over two years later, I still suck but it has definitely worth learning how to operate a manual transimission.

i thinkkk, i'm just gonna take it slow & just get a cai for now.
if i get some more time in with my mom's car or my boyfriend's si, i'll do something about it :D

i've heard that swaps are expensive though.

just build a clean car.

the auto gt is the absolute worst to build up a motor on and if thats your route then sell the car and buy a manual gts or s2k...

if you were really happy with you platform then swap in a 2zz c60, drop it, then boost the **** out of it.

see, i'm still new to all this car stuff and i just need a little guidance in the right direction.

i may just end up doing a few things to it now and eventually get a newer one down the road when i get some more cash.

but i'll keep everyone's thoughts in mind ;3

Nothing performance wise.

If you want, use the money for looks.

Also, keep and eye out for burning oil

I have a TRD exhaust on my auto gt. It will have you think its a little faster but its really not. O well it does sound good and thats what i was going for. Also have an k&n drop in filter and that helped the take off a lil bit. All in all i just wanted to spend a lil money on performance even if i knew it wasn't going to be amazing but it helps a tad.
