Hey guys,
I have some problem with my BOV. I have the Forge BOV (FMDV004) and it doesn't seem to open enough to let all the pressure out.
What happens is : when I go slowly from 1st gear to 2nd @ like 2500 rpm, it goes shhhhhhhh normally. But when I accelerate a little more, I get the shh sound BUT also compressor surge sound (turbo chatter)....!
Isn't it supposed to be the opposite... More boost = Easier to open the BOV?
I have my vaccum lines this way , is it okay?

Red goes to BOV
Blue goes to Wastegate
Yellow goes to Boost gauge
Would putting the BOV line straight to the manifold help it opening?
What else could cause compressor surge?
Thanks
Max

OK let me get this strait the green line connects to your pressure line for the bov?
That ain't right
If i remember correctly
i had one line from manifold to a Y connector.
from the Y connector one line was going to my boost gauge
and a second line was going to the bov
But in your situation you have the wastegate connected
Do you have a boost controller?
damn i would have the search on what i did, i think i posted my setup
but the damn search is broken

My turbo chatters when im in low gear accelerating uphill. With the lines, What I did is the yellow line goes straight to the bov.. I hope it helps.

I wrote what color is what. The red line goes to the BOV.
The green line you drew is just a T on the OE line.

Does it chatter a lot? I'll try to record the sound, it is kinda loud.
I'll try the BOV straight to the manifold nipple and put the boost gauge on the T.
If my turbo knowledge is allright, the more I boost, the easier the BOV should open, but now it looks like the opposite...
Thanks

You have too many lines using one port.... Try and clean that up so that the BOV sees clean vacuum when you lift your foot...

Thanks everyone, I hooked up the BOV straight to the manifold nipple and the boost gauge on the T. I have a little loss on the boost gauge but the BOV works perfect!

Cool ....try hooking your boost up to the stright section of the tee and see if your guage reads correctly.....A strighter flow is better for vacuum/boost guage.

My knocking numbers were off the last time because my flywheel was loose. Now the top knocking number I got was like 28 and I didn't go over 4,5k rpms...
The car is getting fine tuned in the beginning of May hopefully, thanks to Many!
Thanks again Frank and CeliGT00 for helping out! Numbers to come

Yea Many will be a good help, but don't forget he's not a specialist in force induction :o:
Glad it's working good MAX!!!

:chuckles:
Yes those specialist charge 125.00$ an hour(with a minimum of 6 hours) for a full WOT dyno tune! Now that's a Special tune!:ugh: and most haven't even heard of VVT...:chuckles:
...I need to raise my hourly rate so people can take me serious....people are weird sometimes....
