Heres the story...I was driving south from the turnpike at around 80ish mph. I hit a little bump in the road and i start to notice that whenever i hit one my speedometer jumps from 80 to 60 then back to 80. I figured it was ok since i had took out my gauges the day before and maybe the needles were lose all something. Then all of a sudden it seemed like my car shifted from 4th gear to 2nd!! And i drive an auto too!! I looked at the shifter and it was still on drive with overdrive on. After that the check engine light goes on and i pull over. Seems like nothings wrong and the drive home was ok. Can someone please help me out with this? I getting worried about my trans, but i think it might be because of my gauge cluster? Any help is greatfully appreciated.

Well when something scews up I usually redo what I just did. Check all you did or replace with factory stuff and redo. Usually works for me. Good luck bud

I guess i'll have to try to recalibrating the gauges AGAIN..Think i should take it to the dealer....i called them about a needle that i broke once and they said i had to get the entire cluster, so i'm not sure if they'll cover this

I think you'll get charged, so one posted before that they did. I found it easy to recalibrate the needles, but they might be 100RPM off

Make sure the guage cluster plugs are fully in. Also double check to make sure the wires you spliced are still connected and not exposed.

Had to be an auto...it a familly car too....I drove a 5spd civic before though. It might be the gauges maybe, i remember they kept turning on and off unless i had pushed it all the way into the housing, so i'll try that tonight. BTW whats up with all this chariot stuff?

Heh. Don't take the auto GT jokes seriously. ;)

God's chariot is just a little in-joke.

SexyCelica, when ur gauges are unplugged the overdrive shuts off (among other things like A/C and Auto-ON Headlights). It seems to me there might be a loose connection (you didn't plug the guages in well, one of the connectors were broke, etc). When you hit a bump the connection might be lost, causing the guages to lose connection for a moment and making the needles jump like u said. Also, the check engine light came on for me right after pluggin my guages back in, but went away after a couple drives. Losing the connection momentarily on a bump would probably have the same effect.

yah...i pulled apart the gauges and i didn't even have to snap the connectors out, they just fell right out, so i snapped then back on. Everythings working ok now, i just have to calibrate the speedometer again.
