View Full Version : Hub change: 5x100 to 5x114

Well i know alot of Hondas do it to convert their lug patter from 4 lug to 5 lug. I also did a lil bit of research and found that we can change our hub to 5x114 by using the Avalon hub. They also have the drum and disk in the back from what i remember like the GTS. I was thinking if we chance the hub to the Avalon hub.Yes I know they make a spacer to change the lug pattern but I feel this way may be safer and i don't feel right adding on a spacer to a bigger spacer. How much would this cost around? and is their anything else that might need changing?

Havent heard of a celica doing it so thought id bring up the topic. :gap:

easiest thing would be to find a wrecked Avalon. Im guessing the reason no one has done it is price.

try the 09 tc, they are 5x114 and bolt on to ours. not cheap by any means. theres also conversion spacers you can get, also not cheap

Crap! it just hit me that we will have to change our rotors as well and thats all i can think of.

Project Kics (macklin industries) makes a 15mm 5x100 to 5x114.3 conversion. I used them and had no problems.

JT said he doesnt want to use spacers.
Its definitely a plus to upgrade to 5x114 because 5x100 is so limited on wheel selection.
Unless you have wheels with spacing on the back hub to clear the oem studs youll need a minimum of 25mm to clear the oem studs to have a flat mounting surface for the hub of a wheel.
25mm is a full inch, which can change the physical appearance of a wheel( lip size, concavity) by needing to run a higher offset to make up for the spacer.
Plus i wouldnt want to shave off my oem studs to fit 15mm spacer/adapters. just to fit wheels.

I dont think that there is a suitable swap otherwise some one would have done it already

sounds like 09+ scion tc or 08+ scion xb may be your best bet. you'll probably need the knuckle, calipers, rotors, maybe a custom ebrake.

05-26-2011, 02:56 PM
If the rotors are a different diameter you will have to consider an adapter for the caliper.

If you find out that the rotors are the same size then i would see if you can just have the solara, avalon or camry hub pressed into our knuckles.
Then you would avoid trying to make the whole knuckle fit, and the clearance issues with it.

you can get the project kics in a 10mm conversion. I used a 15mm due to my wheel fitment.

well 09 tc are same break setup as ours, you can interchange hubs/rotors from what i know. im gonna try and find a wrecked 09 tc and swap things out....only difference is the mounting holes and shape of the back of the knuckle i think....

Well then u will have to drill your rotors as well for the new pattern but it may work but dont know if it is possible. Less work from what it seems but will it be safe?

Well I tried looking for some pics and i found couple in the install guide for the front and rear. I dont see why we cant redrill the hub and rotor the but then i dont know if their is a downside to it :marky:

this is exactly why im gonna try and retrofit the TC ones onto the celica

if you're gonna retrofit might as well go big and do a tundra hub/brake swap :o:

Check the diameters of the rotors to see if they are the same.

Get a bare celica hub and a bare avalon hub and match the spindles to see if you can press the Avalon 5x114.3 hub to the celica knuckle.

HUB:

Knuckle
http://www.alltoyotalexusparts.com/products_images/8272_01.jpg

If the hubs match and only the bolt patter is different you shouldnt have a problem. You can have AUTOZONE even pull both out and look at it there, or even NAPA.

good luck, let me know if that'll work.

Oh 1 other thing, you can buy brand new celica hubs and find a wheel shop to drill 5x114.3 lol ghetto but its also an answer.

like this guy. Good luck finding rotors. TEST TEST TEST TEST. Definition of R & D.

best way to do that is find someone really good at welding,
have them fill the previous holes, and then mark and use a drill press to drill the new ones.

Exactly! this is the best and easiest option.

You could also try an 04 sti hubor a pre 00 wrx hub or legacy hubs, since they are a 5x100.

You're not understanding me. The Celica is 5x100, to drill holes, 5x114.3 you need an extra 7.15mm per side of the hub, It simply isn't there on the front hubs, rears, maybe but that will be very close to the outer edge.

2KGTrd
05-27-2011, 10:37 PM
then use my second suggestion and find another vehicle with either a larger hub to weld and re-drill...or another vehicle with an identical hub diameter.

This is just retarded becuase of how close the holes are to the edge. a pot hole would snap them out :nono:

True but there are special cases for different wheels.
For example, I have custom 18x9.5 nt03s in 5x100 which were only made in 5x114/120 but enkei can only produce custom wheels in bulk of 10 sets and i just happened to get them in a group buy.
But yea id rather hub swap then have 40 wheels.

Why the hell just not get a converting spacer????????

trdmsprts27
06-01-2011, 08:59 AM
^converting spacer will run about $400 for a complete set and they are 15mm. project kicks makes them. what the OP wants to do is a hub change to get a set a wheels with 5x114 pattern and then if he finds a different set he can get a different size or offset and not have to add or remove a large amount of spacers

So while I am in the process of rebuilding my front axles and hubs, I found the stock bearing, part number 363-40066, that the hub is pressed into is used in a bunch of different cars. So I would imagine that their hub could be pressed into Celica. Anyone know the bolt patterns?
