how much? it's not for sale, i was just happy about getting it, and felt like sharing. but if you have an extra XS Engineering Turbo Kit laying around...

i think he meant how much did u pay for the kit?

silver-s
07-22-2002, 07:37 PM
oh. ok, that makes sense. well, i paid $500 for the NX kit and the GenX2 upgrade from jcar. Then i bought the nitrous filter, the bottle blanket, and got the tank filled for $170. So for all that, it was $670 altogather. Jcar forgot to mail me the blowdown tube, but he did mail it out in a seperate package.

I also have the NX control pad coming. It's the little black box with the three switches on it for the master arm, heater, and purge. that cost me $40 and should be here this week. I can't wait for that. then i can do the install all at one time.

Damn!

With ALL the parts, its should take about 4 hours start finish..

I emphisize all because when we put mine in, there were hours of wasted time spent looking for parts/fittings, etc...

Also, to make things easier, get all your wires layed out and then put them in the car......

i have been messing with this stuff a lot. i've already done a mock install, so i know where everything is going to go. The biggest problem that i can think of right now, is where to put the wires and braided line through the firewall. i already have a crapload of wires going through the fire wall and the fenders. is it ok to drill a hole in the firewall?

I ran my wires and braided line though the opening for the steering shaft. The hole is big and has a nice rubber boot that can be cut to allow the wires and line to stay away from the moving steering shaft. Hope this helps. Your going to love your kit, just yesterday I beat a new BMW Z3 with a 3.0l V6. I could see him crying from my rear view mirror. OK maybe he wasn't crying, but he sure didn't have a smile on his face like I did.

SILVER-S are you going to change your plugs and retard your timing and can you give me more info upon installing you system.

IM a newbie when it comes to nitrous so can you guys inform me more about the NX system. what to do and what to buy.

i am going to change the plugs with NGK BKR7E's. You don't need to retard the timing with the shots. it would be a difficult task anyways on the celica. i really don't know what to tell you on the install. if you read the directions, it seems pretty straight foward. if you aren't confident doing the install, you'd probably be better off getting a professional to do it. i think that i have a good mechanical and electrical grasp on installing parts on my car so i am going to attempt this by myself. besides, i've done everything else to my car by myself.

Looks like you could use Purge Kit, AFR Gauge, In-Dash NOS pressure GAUGE. Whats JCAR's homepage??

silver-s

i'll find his homepage in just a bit.

i do have the purge kit, A/F guage, and NX bottle pressure guage on the bottle. the bottle is going to be mounted in the back seat. i can see the guage if i need to know the pressure. The purge is connected to teh nitrous solenoid. it has the small silver tubing running out of it.

eccentricGTSdvr, if you get a kit, i recommend the NX single fogger import wet kit and genX2 upgrade. An A/F guage is nice, and so is the Mallory window switch. i need to get the window switch, but i'll have to wait until i get some more $$$. Everyone keeps saying that NX is the best, so that's who i went with. i'll let you know how it goes after i get it all installed and tested.

Heya...if you want to run at a NHRA Drag track..you better get a blow down tube..

I notice you don't have that...might want to look into it.

He said he's getting the blowdown tube shipped separately.

thanx XYRCNCP for answering that for me.

yeah, Jcar forgot to put the blowdown tube in the box when he sent me the kit. it should be here pretty soon. one question for you or anyone who knows. can you install the blowdown tube with the bottle full? i don't think so just because all the nitrous would fly out if i take the cap off, but i don't know for sure. any help?

try to run the lines outside of the car. My bottle was mounted in the rear and the line follow the fuel lines all the way to the front.

that's what i was thinking. thanx

i don't know if i will have enough line to run it from the back seat, to the trunk, and then to the engine. i guess i'll have to try it and find out

silver-s, if you need the NGK BKR7E's let me know, i have 20 of them with more coming. they are the same ones i'm using now. it was a pain in the ass trying to find them around here, no one had them in stock, they had the 6E's though which are hotter.

which track do you run at??? just wondering....

silver-s

actually i do need them. how much for them. i saw that i can get them for $1.99 off the net. let me know how much you want for them. i run in clay city, KY. altough i have run up at 75-80 dragstrip up in MD before. what's the chances that i saw you there? i remember talking to a guy there with a blue celica gt. i also talked to a few guys with supra's up there. if i remember right, the blue celica ran a 15.7. there was a red celica there that night too. the best he could muster was somewhere in the 16's, and he had a gt-s. maybe it was you that ran the 15.7? let me know if it was. i had the silver gt-s and ran a 15.4@91 that night. best i could turn in in my two runs. real busy. it was the last night of running for the season. later man

I don't know if that was me or not, I ran there like twice in the past two years....I'll give them to you for $2 even. How many do you want? PM with your info...I just got my nitrous system installed at Altered Atmosphere, infact they are doing that right now so I should have it back by 6pm tonight.

yes the actualy nitrous line you want to run under the car.. just secure it up with the fuel line.. i used like 30 zip ties.. one every like 5 inches to make sure it wasnt going anywhere..

silver-s
07-28-2002, 01:08 PM
that's probably what i'll do then. thanx larry. but one question, where can i find the fuel line? is it in the trunk, or under the back seats? and will i have to make a bigger hole, or drill a new hole to get the braided line to the outside of the car? thanx

larryd

there are 2 rubber grommets in the trunk.. run the line out that and then just find something to secure it to under the car..
