View Full Version : Headers!! Yay and Not Yay!

Hello everyone,

Ok, here's the scoop:

I installed my HS Header this weekend. First of all, it was a major pain in the ass and I recommend doing it with the help of a mechanic.

Second, upon turning the vehicle on, we noticed the header leaks right at the connection of the donut gasket and the exhaust piping. Everything else is fine. We could feel the air leak at the gasket. Now, is this a common problem with the HS headers? We're under suspicion and 99 percent sure that the donut gasket is too big and doesn't fit right.

Now, should I ask HotShot for another gasket? The stock gasket does not fit right either. Can I get a new donut gasket somewhere else? Any ideas and your experience with the headers would be greatly appreciated.

In conclusion, I love the way the header sounds. I can feel a difference in performance. It's slight, but at the higher RPM's it rules. Along with the TWM shifter that I installed, my car feels better overall.

Thanks!

Fin

Adam, Luna, any advice here. Luna, this might be the problem with your header too. It's leaking.

I installed the TWM once, sent it back, its to stiff, just tell me the first time you mishift downshifting for a corner or anything.

Thanks Luna, are you still having problems with yours? Is yours leaking like mine? Any ideas?

Derek, I like the TWM shifter. It's definitely very very tight and stiff. But it's very quick on the shifts. I don't like the shift to 5th gear, it is extremely close and hard to get right. But it just takes getting used to. No misshifts yet. I'm more worried about misshift when I get the S-AFC put on.

I was wary about this problem when I ordered mine, I felt the TWM before and it felt too ratchety. I got some lithium grease and re-lubed everything while I was installing and it definitely helped make the shifter feel smoother. What SS do you have now?

Edrick, I did the same thing, lithium grease rules!

How's the car running?

Car's good, tryin' to decide what to do next. Haven't really decided. I do want to get the AFC tuned wether on a dyno or w/a logger. I have access to a logger so I'll prolly do that. I was debating about the AMSS header I haven't decided yet. I was alsot thinkin' of powdercoating my stock rims and putting those on (maybe just the front) Other than that, I was thinkin' of takin' the MFS course and buying a cheap motorcycle as a new toy. When are we all gettin' together again???

i'm down for the track on wednesday, if it's not rainning, i'm picking up my car in two hours from titan.....AEM forgot to send them a part for the brakes, so i won't have them on yet, hopefully saturday.....they still put on the flywheel, the S-AFC, the short shifter and the racing medalion...and they also redid my nitrous that used to look like ****.....Hopefully, it'll all look nice and make it a bit faster:)
