My Camera is Broken :(

My Canon Digital Rebel XT is malfunctioning.

It started the other day; took a picture which then stayed on the screen and would not go away until I pulled the battery; then the camera would not turn on.

I've fully charged both of my batteries, pulled the clock battery and it seems to allow the camera to power on and take a few photos but it then locks up again.

Any ideas?

does it show any errors on the screen now?

Try cleaning the contacts on the lens(es) and body, and try using a different memory card.
