I was told that having the 2zz IM mod on a GT that is turbo'd doesn't preform as well as the stock 1zz IM. Is there any truth to this because i was looking at doing the 2zz Im on my celica but if its no good when i go turbo, i don't want to waist the money.

Thanks for any help.

I am not to sure what your asking but if your getting at putting the 2zz intake manifold on your 1zz and then turboing it go ahead. The plastic manifold tends to break with high boost.

you cant put a 2ZZ IM on a 1ZZ without major modification. not worth the money for the gains

The design of the 1zz intake manifold helps to produce the torque numbers of the engine. Just leave it, it's pretty much optimized for the engine already.
BUT, if boost is in the equation, the larger plenum of the 2zz's intake manifold would allow more airflow to the engine.... (Don't just read this part and go do it) ....

Top end power might not see an increase, possibly a decrease because the 1zz can't rev above 6.8k in stock ecu form.

My prediction is that you MIGHT gain a little at about ~4.5k but nothing much if anything after that.
If you feel you want to prove my prediction wrong, I cheer you on as a pioneer. Just realize the spacer alone will cost you around $300.

theres a spacer for it ($300 for it that comes with gaskets and bolts) so the IM wont have to be modified.

Thanks You, i was just wondering the gains and the draw backs. And im not totally sure its worth the money.

In my honest opinion I say that unless you are doing a high-horse power full build up, then yes it could be considered as part of the overall package.
But, because you have a GT, (and based on your sig qoute ;) ) It would not be highly advantageous in you're current situation.
