Does a remote start hurt your car in anyway performance wise or lifetime wise ect...?
it shouldnt... its no different than you being in the car and cranking it up.

i have a remote starter, but i cant tell you if its bad for the car as far as long term wise since i've only had it for about a year. so far, so good though. and i wouldn't think that would anything to do with performance of the car at all. but i could be wrong.

I have had mine for over two years now. No problems. The trick is not to over rev the starter. If the engine is running and the starter engages that is bad for the starter. As for engine damage, that is not possible.
How I overcome this is by programming the remote starter to rev the engine to no more than 800RPMs. That and my Avital remote starter can sense when the engine is running and shut the starter down.

my battery died because of my alarm/remote start system.and the day it happened it was like 105 degrees in the middle of a parking lot with no shade, which people tell me is bad for the battery.

it'll cause you no problems, unless you leave the car in gear and it hits something.
actually... i can set my alarm to start the car if the battery level gets too low

Serious??
What kind of alarm is that? That would give me one less thing to worry about when I am on my next 2-week Japan trip.

My Avital does that also. Good stuff. It can also be programmed to start the car every few hours if the temp drops way below freezing.
