View Full Version : a/c and rain?

I had my 04 Celica condenser replaced last year. A/C worked fine. It's been parked outside in a couple days of heavy rain without using the car. Today (no rain) took it out for 2- 20 minute trips 4 hours apart, in hot sun, and still no a/c. Light is on, recirculate is on, sounds like it's engaging when I put A/C switch on but just warm air. I have a warranty on condenser, but am weary of taking it in and having them tell me it's the compressor or something else so they won't have to honor the condenser warranty. Short of spending 185 bucks for a freon and dye recharge to see if/where leak is, any suggestions?
Could the rain/moisture be the cause and if so, anything a non mechanic like me can do to trouble shoot?
Thanks!

sounds like the unit isnt charged , you could get a can of freon with the gauge on it and just check to see where its at.

Thanks...is it easy to locate where /how to charge the system with freon?
Never done that. Thanks of reply.

Check google for steps to check with AC problems. There are a number of things that can affect the system and you may as well start at the top before spending cash.

Good luck!

Thanks for replies! I'm pretty sure the compressor is engaging and running, just getting warm air blowing out. Given this should I still try and locate and check fuses?
Anyone have a diagram showing me at least where he hoses and fusues and relays could be blown or loose so I can at least check those myself before sending her to the shop?
Obviously I'm not a mechanic! (but trying...)
Thanks
