2ZZ turbo

Ok I'm new to all the turbo stuff so I figured I'd ask the people that know what there talking bout. I have a 02 gts with less than 100k on it. Not looking for massive amount of hp just enough for a dd car. I've read that a stock 2zz can handle up to 300hp.. Is this correct? What's the best turbo to go with? I'm still doing some research but any advice would help
