I am getting a fiberglass kit, just wondering if the ones with the blue gelcoat are better quality,or does it even matter?

i honostly dont see the difference... everytime i fiberglass the fiberglass is white... ive never used "gel coat," no idea what that is
normally fiberglassing only requires fiberglass, hardener, and resin, at least when i do it

im pretty sure the hardener is also refered as the gel coat. As far as i know the only differance is there is blue pigment in the blue gel coat compared to the white. its mostly for boats is what i was told(friends dad owns a boat yard) thats why you can get it in blue for repairing the haul. it comes in all colors so you diont have to paint it you can also buy this paint like stuff you pour in the hardner so it hardens a the color you want.
just passing on info not for sure if thats positive, if thats the same type your tlking about

hardener i use is clear, and its not enough to change the whole color of a car, you just put a few drops of the hardener into the resin
i think your referring to the resin itsagts, but your explanation sounds about right
different resins could have different psi's of a strength, but its fiberglass it really doesnt matter how hard its hit, it just matters how its hit (blunt/sharp) and how thick the fiberglass, not the resin is, on how it will hold up

honestly fiberglass is fiberglass. the gel coat might make it a tiny bit stronger, but it will also make it damned heavy. FRP~fiberglass reinforced plastic is the way to go. light, durable, strong. urethane is the most durable, but still a lil heavy
