Perfect rim width for 205 and 215

Hi,

I was wondering about the best fit for 205 and 215 tires. Considering stock rim size is 16x6.5" and tire width 205, what if i get some 17x7" rims? Will a 205 tire fit them?

I know usually several tire widths fit a certain rim width, but I prefer the tire to look smooth, equal with the rim, not like the stretched look some people use.

I went with 215 for my 17x7 rims. And it really looks good! I mean the tire really lines up straight with the rim. Btw i got 215/40/17
