View Full Version : Finally got my new rims on!

18'' Velox Competition VX-Scythes in Gunmetal
with Kuhmo Ecstas 712's [225/40 r18]

The only problem I have now is that my steering wheel shakes like a mofo when i drive above 60mph on the highway. The shop did all the balancing and rotating correctly. And after doing some research, I am almost 100% positive that I need hubcentric rings. I called AFS Motorsport, where I bought the rims, and they told me I need hubcentric rings (Outer: 73, Inner 54.1) which hopefully is the right size for the GT. Im not even sure how many I may need. Maybe all 4? If anyone had this similiar experience, maybe you can help me out. And guess what? the tire shop is charging me $30 to install these! I hope after this, my problem will be solved.

Yes, get 4.

Please do not pay someone to "install" them. Here's the guide:

1. Take wheel off.
2. Place hubcentric ring on hub.
3. Put wheel back on.
4. Return to #1 until all 4 corners have rings and wheels.

ok thanks for the heads up. that seems easy to install. now its just a problem for me to get the hubcentric rings. the manufacturer apparently are out of stock on the right size for the celica. anyone know a place online where i can order some? ill try a couple of shops in town also.. :)

I don't think tirerack or discount tire direct actually list them online, but if you call either of them they can probably hook you up.

haha thanks man. yeah get em on your ride. they are kinda big. did you get the hubcentric rings with your package? i think you may need them..

According to Andy, center rings are not for every rims. It only happense rarely and he doubts I need them. My replacements will get shipped out this week and I should have them by next week. Oh my veilside kit is coming in tomorrow... yes... might as well put all of them at da same time...
