it looks nice until you're up close...then you'll see that it looks flimsy.

I was actually very impressed with the build when looking it over, sitting in it. My GF is looking at rides right now and that was a major consideration until word of the problems from the factory started surfacing.

what is the problem from the factory?

The problem IS the factory.
Naw, I don't really know how their factory is, but if you look on tiburon forums you'll find that car is having numerous problems straight from the factory.

There was a post about a month and a half ago about the sunroof motors failing before they leave the lot and then the clutch/tranny being destroyed in ~1000 miles.

the new Tiburon looks relly nice. The big problem is that it's a Hyundai :AF:

Quality is really bad on a Hyndai. And if you take it to the dealer to use that 10year/100,000 mile warranty they say, it's normal. WTF!

I test drove the 6speed GT. The power was nice and I loved the leather seats. My complaints are: the car feel heavy into corners, the shifter is sloppy (like a truck), I rammed my elbow into the console lid when shifting to 2-4-6, it only gets like 26mpg and the interior is very boring (aside from the seats). I bought my Celica GT instead-not as much HPand torque, but the Celica feels a lot better and it's got the Toyota badge (better resale?). Just my 2 cents.

I like the new Tiburon, it has unique styling & the tail lights look like snake eyes.....plus the performance seems like it is pretty nice, atleast on paper. Actually my girlfriend is considering getting one in the next couple months....because she has a Hyundai Elantra & supposedly the warranty that they offer is f*cking unbelievable.

hmm. They're still ugly. And it looks like they stole the gas cap from the new Eclipse. The resale value on Hyundai's suck, too.

see that's everyone's problem~ let's say that the new Tiburon had a different emblem on it - say slap on a Toyota emblem - i don't think people would hate it as much.
it IS a good car. i hear about a lot of problems with the Celica's but i haven't heard many about Hyundai's yet. and also Hyundai's warranty system is one of the best yet.
i saw a new Tiburon on the road yesterday - it is an eye catcher. the problem with most people is cuz it's Hyundai. Korean manufacturors weren't the greatest but i think they're slowly starting to come up.
i'm not defending Korean made cars cuz i am korean but because i hate it when people start saying stuff about how ghetto Hyundai is....have you guys even test drove the new Tiburons?? if you sit in one too it's very nice.

The car is not a high quality made car. It takes a lot more than rebadging the car to get my vote on it. And have you been to the tib forums? They have more problems with the tib than I could have imagined. The Celicas on this board have a lot of problems because of abuse. A lot of those tibs had problems as they drove it off the lot. Thats a huge difference.
With the Toyota badge, comes reliability... Just slapping a Toyota badge on a Hyundai doesn't automatically make it as reliable. Now if Toyota made the new Tiburon then that Hyundai would have been built with Toyota quality...
Oh yeah, the looks are kinda growing on me, but again, its reliability that is the issue mostly, not brand name.

The Tiberon looks OK but you gotta admit the Celica looks much faster and that's what counts. :)
I like the car. Decent power, good looks. Handles well.

Build quality makes all the difference. The new Tib looks quite good. The interior does'nt feel as comfortable as a Celica. Its what the the previous shape Celica use to be, overweight, underpowered an marketed as a sports car.

The car has issues. The paint ****ing blows..... I'm disgusted by how bad it is..... I'v only got one tiny problem but still... when 5-10% of all people who buy this car have one tiny problem with the paint then there is a big problem with how they are spraying these cars. At the same time, new Sentra owners are having similar issues with their paint. I also seem to remember awhile back 2000 Celica owners were having paint issues as well.
The second problem is the moonroof motor, which was apparently purchased in bulk from another auto manufacturer.... I won't say which. But there is a recall on this now.
The only other issue is some people have claimed clutch problems with the V6. But everyone of the people who has had an issue with the clutch is also new to driving manual.... so I'd be hesitent to say it's a factory issue.
If Hyundai sucks it up and admits to these being first-run production issues, then I'll happily write them off as first year abnormalities.... if they continue I'll bitch louder than anybody else out there.
I have to admit this car is light years ahead of domestic compacts like Cavaliers, Sunfires, Focuses, and Cougars. I'v spent enough time with all of those to realize that much.... build quality is extremely soild and if any of you had the oppurtunity to spend some time with this car I'm sure you'd be very surprised.
Having said that, this car still isn't a Toyota Celica, nor is it an Acura RSX. It'll be interesting to see how close all three cars are in their next generation.

I like it. And woulda got it if not for the gas mileage.

Hrm...I kinda like it also.
I would wait to buy a used one, so the resale value would drop way down, and I'll just use it as a beater.

the exterior is nice
i think i saw one with a wide body kit
it was sooooo niceeeeee
but when i realize that the name is Hyundai .... uhm .... errr .....

i like that they kinda look a lot like audi's to me. cheaper version of an audio, some stuff is missing, but it resembles them. but then you get in and the inside to me looks really really cheap. i mean, the first time i saw the celica interior i really liked it and people say even that looks cheap. but hyundia's just have cheap plasticy interiors. and its a hyundai.
