Celicas can't go that fast.

Turbo. They can. The gearing in 6th is good for 160+ mph.

I did that on a long, a little downhill road without my current turbo when car was young. Straight more than 10 kms, no other cars on the road, on the new back then called "Egnatia" highway. 240+ km/h on gauge.

+1

Mine did 235km/h on the GPS. Took a while before it got there though.

R european roads nicer and well kept???? Because when I went to Ohio there were so many patches on the highway. It was so bad.

Borstenhorst

Depends on where you are but in germany, especially in the east, the roads are in a very good condition so that you can go nearly everywhere 160+ mph.
In countrys where you are not allowed to go that fast and/or if the country is not realy wealthy the roads could be bad.

On a trip to Germany for work we were doing 170 km/h (106 mph) in a C200 Kompressor and people were passing us as if we were standing still.

haha, that's nothing, after I came back visiting my ex girlfriend in Berlin I was driving 200km/h(125mph) on the 3rd lane!!?? guys on the 2nd were driving like 220km/h(137mph) and on the 1st as fast there cars just went... when I had my 300zx I was driving 230km/h(142mph) in cruise control in France and Germany because as I remember over 235km/h the cruise control didn't work anymore, lol...

Hows the name of the state in the US where you also can go as fast you can?

225-230km/h on the gauge is no problem with my celi here on Swedish roads, but have only done it couple off times, record for me was approx 240+km/h downhill and wind blowing in my direction and yeah took like forever to get there hehe

Some parts of the Auto Bahnn systems are unlimited speeds but getting fewer and fewer. If you get "Blitzed"" by one of their cameras and they dont get the ticket to you with in 3 months the ticket is void.100 mph used to be the normal cruising speed on most of them but they have been dropped to 130 kph which is about 75-80 mph.I had the joy of living right next to a stretch of Auto Bahnn A-1 and A-62 that was open speed limit and drove around 280-290 kph on a crotch rocket and 260-270kph in a car. The problems with that are people underestimate your speed and pull out in front of you, and if you do wrack up and live and the police can prove you were going over 130 kph you are responsible for ALL the damage.

Im pretty sure europe has better drivers than the US. DOesnt it cost like $2,000ish or more to even get a liscence??? Its only $100 and some classes to get it in the States.

I seem to recall that Driver's Ed in Germany is a one-year course. I could be wrong though.

Borstenhorst
11-11-2011, 04:22 AM
I depends from school to school what you have to pay, but its around 2500$.

First you have to do an eye test and a first aid course.

you learn the theoretical stuff in the driving-school where you can go as often as you want.

Then you need about 20-30 Hours of driving with the teacher with at least 5 hours at night on autobahn etc.

but this is just for a regular car, if you want to ride a motorcycle or with a trailer or with a vehicle that weights more than 3500kg you need another class of licence which could be very expensive

at least there are 2 test, first the theoretical test, if you pass you could do the practical test where you have to drive for about 1 hour with a official on puplic roads.

GSBoek

This is understandable when you realize that a German driver’s license costs [over $2000], after a minimum of 25-45 hours of professional instruction plus 12 hours of theory So not a one year spread like I've been told.

CC-GT2000
11-11-2011, 10:04 AM
it will be close to a year actually, since it does take about 6 months or so to get your folder/files processed, you don't just walk into the DMV like here in the US, its why i never bothered taking my license back home in Romania, it would've taken me a year and wouldn't be valid in the US

Montana

I don't think its unrestricted anymore.

It used to be "reasonable and prudent" during the daytime, and they had a nighttime limit of 70 mph or so.
