Well in case nobody noticed (general discussion forum), I rolled my car this weekend. I'll get into the details as to how it happened later on as soon as the insurance debacle is all over with.

Basically, the car was in a gear as such that it cut out right away once flipped. So basically I believe there shouldn't be any major problems. While looking at the car when it was on its top it would appear that no drivetrain parts were affected in any way.

This car was on it's top for about 20-30 minutes tops. What would be the correct method for checking the motor and ultimately starting it up.

I do believe there was oil coming out of the intake, it had the appearance of that.

This car has sat for about 4-5 days now since the crash, unstarted, no attempts at starting or anything stupid like that.

Also, if the insurance does decide to repair my car ,,, (which is an f'n joke) if the a,b,c pillars are all "ok" will my car's handling be affected? serious.... because they'll have to "cut out the roof".....

Any help is very very much appreciated everyone! thanks

The first time the engine is started, plan on lots of oil coming out the exhaust. That is not good for the cat, so it may be better to remove it for the first start.

Also, has the area around, and above (or below, depending on your orientation), been inspected for battery acid? That stuff will do a number on the paint and metal.

Couple things to do to avoid later complications:

CAR GENERAL

Check battery for fluid level - if low probably just replace it.
Check for spilled acid, brake fluid, or oils on or aorund anything. Clean it soon and clean it fully, battery acid AND brake fluis are both corrosive and can and will do nasty things to point.

ENGINE (have a fire extinguisher handy JIC) and wear your safety glasses.

Step 1 - remove the intake exhaust and spark plugs.
Step 2 - make sure fuel injectors and coils are disconected
Step 3 - Crank the engine over till stuff stops coming out of the spark plug tubes (crank for no more than 20 seconds at a time and then let teh starter cool down before repeating.
Step 4 - clean the intake manifold and ports out as well as you can and re-install.
Step 5 - clean the exhaust manifold and ports out as well as you can and re-install the manifold. Leave it unbolted from the CAT - Take a peice of metal pipe or rain gutter and up it over the end of the manifold and run the car at idle untill the smoke clears up. This may take a while. Do NOT rev the engine during this time as you can get flames out the exhaust. When the smoke clears up bolt the cat the exhaust and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes

Thanks Griffin, should I detach the exhaust from the header back? or somewhere else

I really appreciate it.

First take it loose at the CAT and then at the head for cleaning. Re-attatch it to the head but leave teh Cat off and put a pipe around it to run it till you burn off the oil. This should save your CAT.
