View Full Version : Best clutch for 350whp??

Ok, i have to get a new pressure plate because mine does not allow the clutch to separate from the flywheel while the clutch is completely depressed. I currently have around 350whp and want a clutch that will last some beatings. I don't mind it being stiff and was thinking about getting the ACT TC2-HDG6...
Any suggestions or opinions in this or other clutches

the hdss should hold the torque for 350whp..
one thought i have is does the stock clutch line have a restrictor in it? i would love a more connected feel, is that what your after?

As for the restrictor, I dont know if it has it or not. Do you reffer to have less shakiness with a more connected feel? If so, i really dont mind it much.

southbend FTW! a TX with upgraded pressure plate is perfect

Sorry for my ignorance smaay, but is the TX the model of the southbend? Also, what is the rated torque for the one you refer

oops that should be TZ. the best thing to do is call them. talk to andy and he will set it up for you. i have what we call the Smaay clutch, its holding my 400+ torque

Whatever you get make sure that it is not a puck style if you daily drive it.

^ as a matter of fact, my current clutch is an act 4 puck... The thing is I believe the pressure plate busted because it does not fully dissengage the clutch from the flywheel. Today I bled the slave cylinder, but now the clutch does not even come back up, and no air goes out the line...Think my master cylinder went bad also...

The best is ACT HD 6 puck spring loaded just call them, I still have my original clutch with 460 ft tq. and a **** load of launches....

^ Is this the one you reffer to?

Its rated for 310ft/lbs, I guess this will work for me...

The ACT HDSS is probably ok at that power level but it's marginal.

If you want the clutch to take some abuse but still drive as smooth as stock then the XTSS is the only one I'd recommend. It has the much heavier pressure plate and street disc which work great together and give the transmission much more chance of surviving than a puck disc does.

^ I will get either G6 or G4disc, but still undecided if to go with HD or XT... Thanks guys for all the opinions!

Sounds like you blew a spring out of the disc, replace the clutch before replacing the clutch master and slave cylinders.

If I blew a spring out of the disc, does it account for the clutch not fully disengaging or the lack of pressure after bleeding the slave cylinder? Either way, I will get a new clutch soon...

Yes it does account for that

^do broken springs behave the same way?

The springs break come out and jam in between the disc and pressure plate = carnage!

+1, I also have a exedy 6 puck with springs, ultra stiff plate, fidenza flyhweel, I did hundreds of drag runs with 75-100 shot and a few hundreds miles of track racing. Never heats up, ultra quick shifts. That been 6 years it's in the the car.

Of course when normal driving, there is some chattering and low speed and make your left legs pump up...since I drive the car 99% of the time on the track, I don't mind, but for someone daily driver, hell no, get something else.

good luck!
