I just had the opportunity to buy a brand new Lexus IS300 5 speed with leather, heated seats, moonroof, 17" wheels, rear wing, LSD, and and a few other options for $29,900. I was sooooooooooooooo tempted but cooler heads prevailed. I think I'll just wait until December and hit the dealers when it really hurts...the end of the year. By then, maybe I can save up some more pennies and get myself an Audi A4 3.0 instead...no, I don't want the S4...it's too much money to buy and insure.

I'd have bought an IS300 for that price, here with those options they are around 34k.

Barely faster than a GT? So's a GTS, but the IS300 will walk them both on a road course, and you could be *much* more comfortable doing it. No need to downshift 3 gears to pass someone... just mush the gas and let that 2JZ do it's thing...

Turbo kits have been out for a long time, convert to a 2JZGTE...

I wouldn't even care if the IS300 was slower than the GT, it's a sweet car with awesome handling

There is nothing luxury about the IS300. The interior is very cheap and not Lexus like at all. I liked it better when it was called Toyota Altezza.

That's blasphemy Camby, don't make me cut you. The interior didn't seem cheap to me at all, only thing I don't like much are the gauges.

That is becuase you are comparing it to your Celica. Compare it to a real Lexus and you will see my point. Hell even my Camry has a better interior than the IS300. Very overrated in my opinion.

Sure it can, I had the unfortunate experience of driving a Camry for a month while my syncros were getting replaced....it sucked :fawk:

Now perhaps a supercharged Camry would be different, but I doubt it.

I had my choice between Intensa Blue and Graphite Grey. Oh well. Had 3.9% for 60 months too. I'd rather have a 3 series anyway...although they are a ton more $$$.

I wouldve taken that deal. BTW if its a 5spd it would own a GT and be reallty close to a GT-S. Plus it haS a trubo kit and supercharger kit or you could swap a real 2JZGTE!

Is there really any difference between the 2JZGE and the 2JZGTE? I thought the GTE was just the same block with a turbo slapped on.

There is a huge difference between the 2JZGE and the 2JZGTE. If you were to slap on a turbo to a 2JZGE, it could not take half as much boost as the 2JZGTE. The 2JZGTE is built better and made to take boost.

on the IS topic, i would've test drove first and then probably have done it depending on the drive, if i would've liked i would've traded in a second. Heck i'd do it for an auto too.

hmm? the A/C doesnt seem to make a difference in mine.. though most cars switch off A/C at full throttle.
