View Full Version : C&D does the new Si

saw this thread on ClubSi.com, interesting read:
http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/013500.html

they got 1/4 at 16.1 @ 87mph.

sounds like a better handling Si hatch (the engineering advances in the chassis deserve respect), a bit slower in a straight line, and a lot uglier. and no fun at all (no 8000rpm VTEC stuff, no lift lobes that i know of, just linear powerband).

hm. maybe our new little bro (Matrix/Vibe) will be able to smack down on the new Hondas http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hmmm....

Because of it's NON-rev happy self...I wonder if more of the Honda users will gravitate to the Matrix/Vibe/RSX rather than the civic.

Gotta have LIFT!!

that new Si redlines at 6800rpm! <IMG SRC="http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smilies/cwm24.gif" border=0> <IMG SRC="http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smilies/cwm2.gif" border=0>

no 8000rpm VTEC stuff, no lift lobes that i know of, just linear powerband I believe the new Civic Si has the base RSX engine, so it does have VTEC (iVTEC?).

But it's super-economy VTEC, ...

At low-rpm, only one valve opens normally (intake side only?), and the other only opens a crack.

At high rpm, both valves open normally. There is no big cam for high rpm, just a small cam, and a micro-cam (for opening the valves just a crack)

Sounds just like the 92-95 Si hatchback. Those were pretty popular. But since then, the bar has been raised and ppl's expectations are higher... I find this pretty disappointing. Oh well, expect to see a lot of aftermarket support for it tho, so who cares what it puts out stock right?

maybe you can swap a K20A into there ;)

I got to see the new SI at a car show yesterday. It looks better in person but the front end still looks like ass. The shifter feels really smooth too, just need to get over how it looks. I like the interior of it. I think the previous SI is about a million times better though.

Gotta have lift? What for? You think an Engine that makes power at 7600 compared to 6600 is better? Buahahahha Please.
When you have a motor that needs high revs to achieve Hp.. then low end torque suffer's.
Hmm..... Top end Horsepower or Low and mid range torque... Gee that's a real hard one

New Si = BUST!!! Forget about it!!!! Ugly and more pedestrian than ever. When so many companies show promise of higher performing models. Honda drops the ball.

you can get low and mid range torque from every other car out there. and it's boring. high revving cars are more fun :D (of course, IMHO and most others who bought celicas). sound cooler too.
