iam wondering if just disconnecting my battery will do that trick or if it is much more complicated. plz help

disconnect negative cable for 5 minutes will do the trick

All you have to do to reset the CEL is hold in your trip meter reset button while you turn the car on. So you're turning the key as you hold in the button. Should do the trick without any tools

so does that work? some one told me that the toyota clusters have a button on the back of them that you can push to reset the check engine light, and that after it is used twice the check engine light will not come on any more??? sounds kinds fishy to me

pull the ECU fuse under the hood and leave it out for 15seconds. saves you the trouble of presetting your radio and time again.

If you disconnect both terminals and hold them together for a couple seconds it completly resests everything.

next time i get a cel from my intake which is often...im just gonna pull the ecu fuse...which one is it???

from an older thread about resetting the ECU
inside the fuse box in the engine bay. pull the blue 15w fuse third from the left on the first row if you are looking into the engine from the left side.

... if i remember right, you're also suppose to pump the brakes if you go the "pull-neg terminal" way.
