Can anyone confirm the part numbers for the:

GT-S 6-Speed Tranny '00, '01, '02

.... and the fact that toyota claims that is hasn't changed.

I, along with another board member have had our trannys replaced under warranty (bad syncros) and we seem to have similar issues.

Clutch catches much higher (right near the top), and 3rd gear seems like a longer throw.

Thanks.

They may well be the same part number. Just because the part number is the same doesn't mean the parts are. Seems to me, Toyota could update a part and have it superceed the old one.

That being said, I think that they probably would use a different part number.

The transmission isn't what is likely to change, the mecahical linkage and shift levers might be revised a bit. Maybe you need to be more specific with the parts counter fellow (they have nice computer screens, maybe you could even get print outs of the effected parts).

As for the clutch, that is somewhat adjustable. Changing the pedal position is pretty easy.

It is possible you just have a new clutch and pressur eplate so it feels different than the previous worn one. My experience is that the clutch engagement point gets closer to the floor as the clutch wears.

Besides, I'd rather have the clutch catch near the top. What is faster, clutch to the floor, shift, clutch out, or clutch 1/2 way in, shift, clutch out.

The latter one is faster, less leg motion.
