sportronic shifter

i have a automatic '01 gt. What is a sportronic shifter? Would it be worth the $ to get? It wouldnt destroy my transmission in like 3 mos. or sumthin would it? And what else would be helpful to get to add hp? Thxs, coty

Only the GTS auto has the sportshift. Don't waste your money on trying to turn it into a sportshift. You'd be better off getting a 6speed. If you want hp's, you can start by getting an intake and exhaust. No offense but the auto GT is the slowest of the Celica family followed by my car. I say keep it as a daily driver or a showcar. You'd spend too much money making it fast while a guy in a stock 6speed can still whip you. That's just my suggestion. One person did make their auto GT fast, Xanatos. His is turbo'd, but it'll still get beat by a 6speed. Hope that helps.

get a BB gun and take some lessons. shoot out the tires of anyone you race :D

sportronic wouldn't be worth it as is. if you're rich, maybe a torque converter. regardless, i'd get a CAI and the new header for the GT immediately cuz it's fun. :)
