alright, i'm in the rowland heights area on colima blvd driving my 1991 Integra GS (upgrades on sig) i pull up to a nice looking 00 GT dropped on RH C2 evo's...I casually look at his car because i used to have a 00 GTS, and i was admiring it. The light then turns green. me and him both pull away slowly in 1st gear. when he got a car length on me(his back bumper was next to my front), he guns it...so i gun it...through 1st, he has a car on me. we both chirp 2nd and my old teggy starts making up ground, my bumper is on his front door. I chirp 3rd and we are neck and neck...then sum idiot in a camry cuts as both off....he then slows down, and i get next to him...He was really cool, give me a smile and a nod...Damn, that was fun...I know that if we both started even, i would have smoked him...Not bad for the old school teggy.....If that guy is on here, good race!...=) I'm gonna be out on the prowl for more GT's...Lates!

You still got the D16A1 engine in there or is it the B17? I forgot which engine comes with the '91. I do know that the D16A1 is DOHC and so is B17A. I used to have B16A on my 97 Civic EX.

Good kill. What happen to your Celi? I'm sure you've explained it somewhere already.

why the B16, why not a B18

powercx,

Thanks bro...I have a B18a in my Integra..Its the LS non-vtec engine..The D16 series engines are the SOHC motors that come in Civic DX,LX,EX. B18a is DOHC Non-vtec, while B16a, B18C, C5 are vtec engines..U had a B16 in a civic??? Tight!..My celica? Toyota Bought it back as a lemon...I used the money from that to buy my integra..My car was a problematic POS...But yes, even through all the crap it put me through, i still liked it and still miss it...That is until i get the Integra up to the shape i want it in...Heres a pic of the integ...Lates.

so like i said..why not the B18C.. ITR motor correct?

ZIGGY GTS

Oh yeah, Larry...why a B16a? well its bcuz i wanna save money...A B16a series 2 can be bought for around 1000 bucks while a B18C1 (GSR) is around 3800...With the money i save, i can put that into upgading the B16a (CTR cams, ITR manifold, throttle body, JDM headers, cam gears)..With proper tuning, a B16a can put out around 170-180 to the wheels w/out A/C and power steering..And that power in my light, old body means a quick little car. And plus, i would stay true to how my car was set up in Japan because they sold my car as an Integra Xsi with B16 power from the factory...Lates...=)

12-05-2001, 12:33 AM
gotcha..

ZIGGY GTS
12-05-2001, 12:34 AM
B18C1=GSR... B18C5=ITR...B18C5=$4800-$5,000 Too much money! A type r motor would cost almost as much as i paid for my car...LOL..

Good kill. My friend with a LS with bolt-ons pulled on me slightly when we raced. Of course, my car is almost stock, so I think it'll be pretty even once I throw some more $$$ in my car.

B18A puts out about how much power? if you had the vtec B18, and this was a previous gen. stang GT, i'd entertain this notion but that GT driver must really suck ass or was playing around more than racing.

I/H/E non-VTEC '91 'teg GS pulls on a high 13 sec (when STOCK) Mustang GT?

Woops, I just looked it up and I was somewhat right on my specs. D16A1 is still DOHC, the D16Z is the SOHC and so is the D16Y. Yea, I have the B16A, J Spec. For a 4 banger, it's pretty quick. I fixup my Civic through sponsorship, and I was almost done with it (Turbo) until I got married and the No A/C and stripped car just don't work with the wife. But that is the most fun car I ever had fixing up. With my Celica, I'm not even going to mod it. No aftermarket support yet. At this rate, I'm gonna go back to Civic's lol. But all of my cars are all sleeper. Your car looks clean. My civics has coilover and it's stock height on the street. Total sleeper. Cops don't hassle me, other ricers don't hassle me.

B16A is cheaper, but it's not as quick as the B18C. I'm still upgrading the B20 with B16A head. CR-V Motor VTEC. It needs for aftermarket parts for it. This motor is dropped on a 93 Civic DX. My first Civic. 200hp at the wheels and it just pulls and pulls with mad ass torque. Damn....

The most expensive I know is the B20, the second to the expensive is the B18A with B16A head. LS VTEC. Stronger than B18C1. More horsepower to the wheels, and launching on the LS block is a lot easier than with B18C. Pretty weird if you ask me why that's the case, but I've driven both. A lot of shops won't do hybrid VTEC conversion. When they did my engine swap, I video taped everything.

I'm currently helping my bud build the b20/vtec in his 93 hatch.
I have a 93 civic with the b18c1 and some mods. I got it when I got into a fight with the folks and used my university funds to get a hold of everything, its fast and I like but its gotta go. Cant affors insurance for it.

I never knew motors were so expensive in the us I picked up my 98 gsr with 42000 km for around 3g's canadian (no papers though)

And here u can get a b16a for around 2 g's with papers and everything.

Hey, I just realized you're from Corona, 909 area code. I'm from Diamond Bar, Pomona area. But I moved to the Bay Area and been here eversince. My brother is the one driving my 93 Civic DX now. Magenta Red, barely lowered and on 13 inch wheels hubcaps. lol. Total sleeper. I had my Honda since 94.

I was thinking of selling my Celica and get either Prelude or S2000. But what's up with all the S2K that I test drove have at least 50 miles on them. 30 miles is from the factory, and another 20 miles from a test drive? I ain't getting that and the dealer won't budge on the price either, one reason why I didn't get it yet. But I'll be down in LA for Christmas and maybe shop for S2K down there instead and trade my Celica in. 2 months of searching for S2K, hopefully it'll end soon.

Instead of the B16A, why not get H22A or H23A? Stronger, Faster and lots of torque. Hard to find though. Let me know, I have a couple of seller where I live.

An H22 or H23 has gobs of power and torque and has been put in a G2 integra like mine..But the thing is that the engine is way too heavy. And H22 in a G2 will make the car not handle well bcuz of the weight...It will give the car too much understeer. What good is brute power when i cant steer the car? LOL..But if u want a strip warrior, and H22 would be nice...

I believe you raced Laserdoc, he posts on unison's board somtimes. As far as the swap...h22a's rock :) - my friend has one in his EK civic hatch...along w/ a hotshot header, intake and soon to be crower cams...on street he sports the stock dx straw of an exhaust, fun car. REALLLY fast on slicks...traction problems on stock 15's - mad spinnage.

Laserdoc? okay..if it was him, tell him i said whats up!, and next time i see him in the heights, i wanna go again but completely even...Ur freind has a H22 powered hatch? haha yes, they are fun little cars, I have yet to drive one...B series powered hatchbacks are already enuff fun for me...=)
