I installed the INJEN CAI last year, the CEL has never been light up since today. I don't know if it's the CAI causing the problem or what, but my milage is at 33K which my warrenty is about to expire. should i bring it in to the toyota shop or find out if it's the CAI? If it's the CAI, is there a way to get the CEL off?

thx in advance

With the CAI all you can really do is check all the hoses, check the clamps at the throttle body, and make sure everything is properly bolted down. Pay special attention to the MAF and ensure that it is screwed down tight. Double check all of that, and if it still gets a CEL, bring it in for a code reading. If your service manager is cool and you have good repoire with him/her, you might want to explain your scenario. Just say if it's caused by the CAI you will take responsibility for it. If he's cool, he'll probably appreciate your honesty and straight-forwardness.

or bring it to autozone and have them pull the code for ya.

Just pull the damn 15amp fuse..put it back in and be done with it.

Don't listen to this guy - who knows what the problem is - better safe than sorry - its free to have auto zone tell you the code and if theres something wrong better to find out that way.

Griff is right about getting the problem properly diagnosed. However I have had no luck with the shop being able to clear mine up, thus the comment.

If it's been a year then your MAF sensor might be dirty, get a cotton swab and gently clean the gunk off of it.

Also seeing as you said a year, when was the last time you cleaned your air filter for the intake. The filter might be just that damn dirty and causing lean conditions and also check the MAF sensor....just pull it off and make sure no dirt is on it.

Actually, I haven't clean the filter at all. Maybe I should do that first. btw, where's the MAF sensor located?

Its the electronic sensor you attached to the intake...should be mounted near the ecu tube....
