Importing to Germany?

i might be moving to germany and i'm really interested in bringing my car with me, but everyone's telling me it's way expensive and complicated. has anyone done this or can anyone tell me what kind of costs and complications are involved?

Shipping the car (by boat) to Rotterdam will cost you about $5,000.00. If you stay for less then 6 months you don't have to import the car, so all the costs will be the shippingcosts and the drive from Rotterdam to Germany

If you are in the military, you are allowed to ship one vehicle with you on the government's nickel. I lived in Germany for 16 years. We had to do it a couple times.
