scrape with..?

LaW

Because it pretty much ruins it and I would imagine up close it just wouldn't look great during the day time. The orange is not the top layer so your grinding off a clear layer which could in the future damage more of the guages...

ic...well, i'm pretty satisfied with the way its looking so far. i'm not doing this for the day time look. its for the night.

well, i'm done. it took me a long time. i will never do this again. even if somebody paid me. its wasn't worth it. but, i like the way it looks. sorry guys, no pics yet. however, there are other people who did this and i'm sure they could give u a pic. at night, it looks perfect. but in the morning, you could see scrape marks. if i could borrow my friends digi cam, i'll take some pics of it.

"sig edited by larryd.. its to large and way offtopic.. please read sig rules.." is this a joke or really edited?

you cant see the scrape marks unless u were looking for it. my friend thought i got an indiglo gauge wen he saw my guage tonight. he was surprised how well i scraped off the paint.

i dont like any of the indiglo gauges out right now, thats why i did this.

Try some plastic polish to remove the scratches. I'll fill nealy all scratches unless they're grand canyon deep.

Post some pics!

This is what it looks like after the orange is taken off in the day and at night. I have already done this months ago. I had no problems doing it, and Law, it dosen't damage your gauges all you are doing is scraping off the top coat of clear stuff and then the orange. If you did it right you never will go through the plastic.

do you have to scrape the paint off if you want a red cluster?

NellieB
08-07-2002, 08:17 AM
Well, because red and orange blemd well together. Grant, it's up to you whether you want to have your gauges white during the day. It would look good either way I would think.

Jesse IL

This looks good, but digital pictures are great at hiding small defects that are blatantly visible in person. I still think that the surface finish of the gauges would be completely messed up if you saw it in person.

of course it damages your guages.... your frickin grinding into them..... I can notice some imperfections from your picture but would be better to see in persno because as Jesse said there is probably more detail not being seen here..

NellieB

LAW, I understand what you mean now by "damaging the gauges" (for some reason I thought you were referring to underneath the overlay...weird). Although, I don't think damaging is the correct term. Damaging would refer to them not working, I'm still convinced that I like them better than stock. Another nice color that would work would be to get some hyperwhite colored LED's for behind the gauges to have a nice clean looking color as well.

not really, i mean i've damaged my car but it still works :)

NellieB

that's like comparing it to damaging your quaterpanel the way you describe it. I don't agree,
