Alright I'm "THINKING" about changing cars and there are two that I have in mind:
2002 Lexus IS300
2002 Mercedes Benz C230 Coupe
Lexus:
215 hp vvt-i I-6 NA 218 ft-lb torque 0-60 7.3 sec
as I want it equipped: $36,935
Benz:
192 hp I-4 vvt Supercharged 200 ft-lb torque 0-60 7.5 sec
as I want it equipped: $33,629
Both are 5-speed manu-matics, (I know I know)
So what u guys think? I'm gathering opinions, nothing is set in stone. I would have to sell my celi to a person, would lose too much trading in.

I don't see 2002 Lightning on that list. What's with that?? ;)
I don't know why but I really don't like that C230 Coupe. It looks like a Saturn to me, and all the one's I've seen have a black top no matter what the color of the car is. Is that true? That's hideous. Anyway, it's a Benz that starts at $25,000 so they are selling like hotcakes. Waiting lists at most places. Hope you've either found one or are on a list if you want one. I'd also imagine they are selling for over sticker, but that's just my hunch.
The IS300 --> Hmmm. Not bad. That's be my choice between the two. It's also a 6-cylinder versus the I4 of the Benz (although Supercharged vehicles are REALLY FUN.
Don't mess with the turbo. That's just my opinion though. And you keep talking about maybe selling the car so it sounds like you want to.
I gotta ask though, why did you list the 0-60 times? You don't seem like the racer type, more of the "look nice in luxury" type. Hope that doesn't make an impact on which one you buy. Did you think about a certified pre-owned Lexus LS400? VERY nice and in the same price range pre-owned at a dealer. (Toyota's warranty is actually better on their used cars ;) plus no big first year depreciation hit). I sorta wish I had tried to locate a 1999-2000 M3, but then I mash the gas and can't help but smile and totally forget about the M.
So that's that. Have you checked on the cars that are coming out within the next year? Seems like a lot of sporty cars are gonna pop up. The Z, RX8, maybe an Evo7. Just an idea.

I would hope that you would keep the celica, but those are really nice cars. I mean you allready look like your 40 anyways, the Benz would just be the iceing on the cake. just joking, i couldnt resist.

I don't like the new Benz either. Someone at work has one and I got a chance to take a nice long and close up look at it. It kinda reminds me of a bigger longer CRX. That and the panorama sunroof isn't really that much bigger than the celica. It's only 1/4 longer. And don't forget it weighs 3340 lbs. 800 lbs. more than the celica. :(

What, you want to conform to the yuppie scene like everyone else in N VA? I love smokin' yuppies in my Celica...

no slope, I am far from being a "yuppie"....but I'm getting tired of being looked at as a "racer", and besides if I was given the choice of luxury vs a sport compact...trust me I would go luxury.
I dont need replies like yours, I asked for opinions on which car, not what u like smokin on the road, if that makes you feel better by all means, race around all you want.

actually Joe, that is kinda in my head too. But it wont happen anytime soon, have to get rid of other debts, it the celi was the only thing between getting a house or not, the celi would be history.

Hey, first off it was good meeting those of you who attended the meet today. I enjoyed myself, I was the big guy with the afro, Wil Hicks.
Anyway if you are going to definitely get one of the two get the IS 300. My friend has the 2001 IS 300 auto and that car is just begging for a 5-speed, plus I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to do more to the IS down the line.

WHAT THE PHUK!!!???
since when, eric, did you wanna sell your car? how come you didn't tell me about it at the meet bro! (sorry I'm a little late tot his I haven't been on NC.org in a while)
anywho, the two choices are sweet...but come on you're a celica nut like the rest of us. Keep the damn celica, after 2 more years of owning it then get a new ride:)
just my 2 cents

T3HKMAN -- welcome. It's always good to see new people at the meets.
DreamFX -- He's keeping it. He was tossing around the idea, but told me yesterday that he is definitely keeping it.

Yah, I'm keeping it for the time being......so the celi stays. Put it this way, I will be able to make it to Carlisle next year.....after that, well, we'll just have to see....
And as for my decision for my next car: IS 300, If not GS430.....:p
