I'd like to know how you guys feel about the 2.5 RS... seems like a pretty nice car to me. AWD, very short ratios, 160hp (i think). I'm just trying to compare celicas with other cars and I've rarely seen anyone talk about that car.

Do you mean new or old body style?

I the Subaru dealer near here didn't suck, I might have bought a 2000 2.5RS instead of the Celica. But even with a decent Subaru dealer, I think the Celica's style and speed would have still lured me away http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/wink.gif.

As for power, I think it was 165hp in 1998, and now it's like 166hp (with supposedly better torque and engine response than the early ones).

For those out there who autocross or road race, how does it compare to the Celica?

It's got more torque and the 4 wheel drive gets it off the line pretty fast even when the pavement is slippery. However it weighs a lot more and with a stock suspension doesn't handle as well. If you are aiming at STS in autocross it is probably still one of the cars to have. A little suspension work, an intake and exhaust and it's a very fast car on the autocross course.

I personally don't like the design changes that were brought in with the 2002 models but that's a personal opinion. I've never looked really closely at owning one so can't say too terribly much.

I was seriously looking at a RS before buying the R. I really like them. They just didn't have enough room inside for me to fit comfortably (neither does the Celica). I just wish they would have put the WRX engine in that body style. The RS looks very nice. The WRX is fugly.

Stock for stock, my 2.5RS handled much better than my Celica. In a Solo2 type event, the Low end torque of the boxer engine and the AWD made it an awesome car. Go for the 2.5RS. The fun factor is much higher
