i plan to lubricate my shift linkage myself, everytime i tell toyota to do it at the oil change, they said sure but never do it...it squeaks when i shift, especially from 1st to 2nd gear. Which is better to use: white lithium grease or mobil 1 grease, or anything else? thanks in advance!

I use WD-40 and works fine.

WD-40. Thats what i use too...the squeak will eventually come back but it is so much easier to do it yourself than take it in to have them us some "special" lubricator.

Use White Lithium grease... don't use WD-40. WD-40 will weaken the rubber boots in the shift linkage.

Clean the joints and links as best as you can to remove dust/dirt particles. Then use the spray-on white lithium grease. Do a search on the forums.. there was a big discussion about this and even pictures on where to spray. If you can't find the picture just remember to do the parts that move.
