Just wondering a couple of things hope ou guys can help in any way.

First, Does anyone have that new XM Satellite Radio, or know anything about it. Like is it worth it, and so on. Personal opinions requested here.

Second, how is Sony's X-plode products? Are they good quality or are they more for show than use. I want a system that will look good, but yet sound great. I don't need anything to dramatic, I mean I don't plan on entering any shows, but want a good quality sound system.

Thanks in advance for all the info I get.

To tell you the truth I hate Sony. It's good product but it's not worth the $$$ you pay for it. I have Pioneers DEH-P6300 XM readyhead unit. I think it is worth it. The add ons for it will run you about $200 thats for the antenna and the tuner.
It's worth the buy because many of the 100 channels are commercial free and those with commercials are 3 mins per are of commercials. There is also news comedy and sports channels included. My suggestion without putting a dent in your pocket is go with Pioneer products. They are reasonable and kick ass. Timeports system is Pioneer and his sh!t thumps.

Thanks I was wondering if people buy Sony just for the name, and not the quality. So Pioneer would be a good brand, anybody else's opinions are appreciated.

i agree. I have a pioneer deh-8200r currently and I love it. It has 3 preamp outs (2 normal, and 1 sub) so u can control the subs separately. Built-in crossovers, and eq. It looks really cool, and does its job.

I had a sony head unit on my civic two years ago (before it got stolen) and it was okay. I don't think i'd go with any other brand for headunits since i've had a pioneer. Pioneer rocks. I heard that clarions are good too, but I don't like the way they look.

As for brands of other components, I heard its better to stay with one or two brands with everything in your car. But mine isn't like that, tho sometimes I wish it was.

I've used all of the major brands at one time or another in my family's cars and they all are about the same and get the job done just fine. (comparing models with like features)

One thing that I look at in particular is how user friendly it is, ie: size and layout of buttons, are the controls I use most often easy to get to. With amps you should look at where you plan on using them, where you are running wires to and from and see what will fit and work best for the look and sound you want to achieve.

Most people can't tell the difference in sound quality between like models, but can sure as hell tell if the setup looks like crap and isn't easy to use.

My opinion is that the XM and Sirus radio is a waist. At least for me I don't mind the local stations, if their is commericial on I have a CD player, and I don't go out of town enough to justify paying the 10 dollars a month so the radio stations are always the same.

The eXplode line I only like thier AMPs I have two of them and they are great I have had one for 3 years and have had no problems. they also look great. I am always getting props on how good my car sounds and how the setup looks good. I do have to say I don't like their speakers or head units.

2kgtx, I like your install. Looks very very clean..

How did you get the box above the dumb tray that sits right behind our seats? Is your trunk raised to its all flat? Or is your box cut so that it fits around the tray?

it kinda looks like you put an extra piece under the subs to balance out the height. how do you stabalize this so the subs wont move around in the trunk?

Chiznarles The subs are just sitting on top of the tray I had a piece built to go on the bottom of the subs underneath so that it would match the height. The amps in the back of the box do a pretty good job balancing the box and I have two elbows screwed into the box and that plastic trey thing.
Coming soon Panasonic CQ-DFX701U Flush mounted with Carbon Fiber around the harness to match rest of the dash. Please let me know what everyone thinks about this I am going to have it done week after next since I am working all next week and am going to FL for the weekend. Thanks For the Props.
