i dunno about the AVS, but i'm really satisfied with my Parada's. They for sure grip a LOT better than the Kumho's i had b4.

the es100's are probably quieter than the pradas, also, supposedly they have a newest silica-carbon rubber compound.

check out their website, lots of
info

i'm using es100, they very sticky to the road, but it squeaks when u turn hard, i guess that happens to all tires :P ..well maybe except azenis , but they r damn good, i jumped into them too early and missed out the deal tirerack has right now, i hella want that remote car too, and i could've save myself another $7/tires too, never buy things when they first came out....and on top of that, the es100 has alot of other feature that the paradas don't include, i did a comparison, i looked thru yahoo, and decided to give these tires a try and i don't regret it :)

Whats their noise level (yoko ES100) on highway?

The problem with ES100 is their treadwear. They are only 180 AA A, so I would expect the same (maybe slightly better) mileage from the stock yoko A680.

jimhk1011: How would you compare them with the stockies?

I'm now undecided between Sumitomo HTRZ II, Falken FK-451 and the Yoko ES100.

Thx for your feedbacks!

na fool, es100's have treadwear = 280

and, what is treadwear anywayz, if you drive hard, you will wear tires out fast.

my opinion, go with the es100's they are better than Sumitomos or Falken. When in doubt, and simmilar tire specs, go with the bigger brand name.

also, compared to the stock tires, these es100's are just as quiet. i mean, its a celica, once you get to hw speeds theres just a lot of noise from everywhere. =)

just like chris says, i wanna add that it's actually very quiet tire if u don't turn hard, it'll squeak(but still have traction), i guess it's a good thing to warn u, i'm not sure, but when it squeaks, i still know the car is under control if u know what i meant, other than that, they r very quiet to me, grip is better than stock too :)

Thx for the info.

I dunno bout you but when I drive on the highway, beside hearing the wind, the only thing im hearing is the humming of the tyres on the road. We do have really crappy roads over here in Quebec (you havent seen crappy roads till you come and drive here, its pathetic, believe me). My winter tyres are much much more quiet than these and I been running on Yoko Guardex F720.

I'll check out pricing on the Yoko ES100 at the local shops and compare them with tirerack. 76$/tyre for these is even cheaper than Kumho's (on tirerack), hopefully I'll be getting similar pricing at the local shops.

Thx y'all! :D

I just bought some AVS ES100 today and I love them. They seem very quiet and they stick like glue. I also thought that they would be better in the rain that we get in the northwest!

I sent an e-mail to tirerack and here is their answer/opinion on the subject:

My e-mail (the important part of it):

I've been trying to decide which tire would fit me best with the budget I have. I've screened down my choices to the following makes:

- Sumitomo HTZR II 220 AA A
- Yokohama AVS ES100 280 AA A

** My tire size: 205/50-16 **

The prices of both tires fall well into my budget. I wouldnt want to
spend more than 90$ / tire. If you have any other alternative to these 2 tires, please let me know and I'll gladly look into it. However, Dunlop FM901 are out of question as well as the Kumho 712 Supra.

I'm very curious about the AVS ES100. I've heard good reviews and a lot of folks are comparing it to the Sumitomo HTZR II. In that optic, I'd like to have additional information regarding the AVS ES100 since there isnt much detail on Tirerack website, probably due to the fact that these are pretty new. I would like to know how the AVS ES100 stacks up against the Sumitomo. Where are its strength, and where does it fall short.

I am looking for tires that will perform very well on highway/city
driving. I need something that will hold its own during wet days. I dont want a tire that feels mushy when I turn hard, or drive aggressively. Im looking at a tire that will out beat the celica '00 stock A680 yoko's in all areas.

Their answer (the important part of it neways):

FM901's are loud and the Kumhos are ok tires if your not looking for performance. You can't go wrong w/ either the Sumitomo HTR Z 2s or Yokohama ES100s. We did some testing on these and have different results w/ these tires. Most of us felt that the ES100's handle a little better in the dry than the HTR Z 2's did but not quite as well in the rain. But it it very close and that's why I said you can't really go wrong w/ either of these.

the e-mail continues with shipping quotes ...

So I guess I am gonna get the AVS ES100. We get mostly dry days here in Montreal.

Hope this help you guys making a decision.

Cheers

lol ... you and your remote car

I'll send you mine if you want. I dont want it ... as long as you pay the shipping fees :D

I'll order my set in the next couple of days. I just need to decide if I ship it directly at my door (In Quebec) or in Maine at a warehouse (I'll piuck em up). The latter option is the cheapest but its a pain in the ...
