Neon lights

Hey guys and girls..
what do you think about Neons in the interior of the car? What do you think of neon light in the foot area of the drive and passenger sides? Tacky? Cool? Stupid?

I saw some at Walmart the other night... they had them in 15" and 10" in different colors.

Im pretty handy with a soldering iron so I figure I would wire um straight in instead of tying up the cigarette lighter...

well I got my set of lights that go under the dash from fast and the furious. My grandma bought um for me as a car warming present lol.. and I got 2 neon sticks that I throw in the back seats but I got those from walmart. Um I still use a cigarette lighter but I bought one of those adapters where i can use 4 on 1. But I should be wiring it straight to a switch pretty soon because my portable dvd player needs the cigarette lighter. but i did buy some from walmart I know there cheap but hey you probably will get tired of them sooner or later.. lol

yes, i've been thinking about doing this for awhile but just too lazy to actually do it! hahaha i was thinking of putting a pair of 15" blue neon lights for the passenger and driver footwells....hey scott, what brand were the ones you found at walmart? and how much were they?

oh and you think there's a way we can wire it up so that it goes on when the door opens? maybe tap into the dome light power wire or something? i dunno, jus a thought....but i'd want a switch like the dome light switch too though....know what i mean? 3 options....door, on, and off...k well tell me what you think and i'd like to do this with you whenever you plan to do it...thanks man!

I got the 54 Studio 10" blue neons.

Dont go to Kunia Walmart. They dont have blue at all.. Mililani Walmart had a few left. They were $10.95 each so i bought 2 of them.

They are pretty cool. I thought at first it was gonna be dorky because it says they beat to the music... and it does but its actually kinda cool. not that i would leave them in that mode.. but... you know.. it just looks cool.

10" is long enough for under the dash. the 15" would be way too long!
Im planning on getting a switch for them and maybe mounting it in the glove box out of the way. I dont think you want them turning on when you open the door or with the dome light switch because you would have to drive around with the dome light on.

Give me a few days to work out the details and i'll let you know!

I've been wanting to do this too but I've been looking for the brightest brand of neon lights. As for where to tap in, a lot of people on the mainland have been going with the cig ligther fuse, cuz it will turn off when the car is off and if you add a switch to it you can turn it on and off whenever you want while the car is on. I'm thinking about putting the switch on the driving side of the dash where the little slots are for like the window lock and alarm light. i heard that the dome light was kinda hard to do cuz i don't know how your gonna get wire up there.

I saw a truck last night with a big neon stick ontop his dashboard... great way to get pulled over buddy. REAL smart. :wtf:

a neon/matrix... lol.. that'd be pretty funny. and everyone will know when u're comin'.

as for the neons beating to the music.. yup it sure does. my ex had one.. got so annoying after a while. as he thought it was so "cool." blah! he use to put it on the dash of his car.. looked so "book book." no offense u guys.. but i thought it was pretty gay to have it on the dash. so i think to have it under the dash is cools.. even under the seats would look trippy.. but that's just my opinion.

i just want something cool in the car so... i guess if i get tired of them i can always turn them off!

I think neons in the Matrix would be dope... got choke room to mount 'em around. I'm kinda sketchy about shoving too much wiring under my dash already... looks like a fire hazzard as it is, LOL.
