test drove the 350Z !!!

damn i must say this car kicks ass! i thought it was ugly when i saw it in pictures, but in person damn this car is mean. all it needs is a nice spoiler to balance the body lines. they emptied out the aloha stadium parking lot so we could run these babies hard! fricken fun. the 6 speed was super smooth and shifted so easily. its fricken quick off the stop and brakes were awesome too, has some 13inch brembo rotors! 0-60 in 5.4 seconds...i made some mad skid marks hahaha. but theres some kinda internal adjustment when you turn so altho youre skidding, you hardly feel any body roll, it's weird! on another note, there seemed to be two silver cars, one looked like ours, the other was this sweet gun metal color. i wish my celica had that color!!! you guys gotta try drive em.

i think they woulda let anyone drive it actually. they invited the Z club of hawaii, altho they left before the actual "event" started. plus i think a lot of people who pre-ordered the car were invited. all 100 of the 350Z's coming in in the first shipment are reserved already! and there really wasnt any security to monitor who entered the parking lot. basically there were two cars, an auto, and a 6spd. you could drive it as long as you wanted, when you were done, you jus parked it. people hopped in an out, you never had to ask permission. it was fun!!!

i swear i think the manager guy woulda shet in his pants if he watched me drive the whole time (he was busy talking to clients). i drove like 80mph straight at the light pole then banked hard and drifted and shet. it was so fun cuz the lot is so open! there wasnt a long enuff straight away to get top speeds tho.

i think we were there for about 45 minutes. i think 15-20 minutes i spent in the car.

plus they gave me this limited edition 350Z handout kit thats going for like $60+ on ebay! yeah, nuthin like free money!

it was a nissan promotional event i guess. they invited people to test drive the car the day before it's official release. the media bit was to drive the car and talk to the first lady to buy the 350Z.

I considered getting an IS300 beofre the celica. I kind of like the WRX too. I still wish I kept my 240. that would have been a great project car.

I liked the IS300 alot too... but the more I see it, the more I don't really like it. From some angles from the front, it can look downright wierd.

I still think the Celica is one of the best handling, and definitely still the best looking import in it's price range, but I'm yearning for boost badly. I saw a '92 NSX in the paper the other day for $30k... I admit I ran the figures through my head and juggled the idea around.

I really hate the look of the new Lancer Evolution, but I can only imagine what the Subaru WRX STi is gonna be like once it comes over. And the new G35 coupe is a real looker. The more I see the 350Z, the more it's starting to grow on me too!

I fully intend to finish this car to the max tho, before I start on something else. I'd REALLY love to join in the fun with Sean and start on an '86 GT-S in a couple years tho!
