View Full Version : Let's Magazine Race Again: Spoon Sports S2000 vs. Hotchkis Celica!

Hehe, it's not me. Really. Sport Compact Car itself brings up the comparison with this little blurb in its Oct. 2002 issue: " Through the slalom, it (the Spoon Sports S2000 racecar) came within 1.3 mph (75.6mph) of the record-holding Hotchkis Celica (76.9 mph)..." Some other numbers gathered during SCC's testing of Spoon's racecar were a DOMINATING 1.17 G's on the skidpad (a new SCC record ) and a 60-0 stopping distance of 115 ft. The Hotchkis Celica achieved 1.03 G's and stopped from 60mph in 97 ft. The S2000 was tested in full-race trim with Yokohama Advan race tires and a stripped interior.

Just to reiterate, I'm not saying Hotchkis's car is better than or equal to Spoon's racecar based on this article, but it's dope to see that the Celi's numbers were in the same ballpark as such an awesome car. ;)

wen hotchkis releases there red supercharged celica, its going to dominate every car on the race track. keep it up hotchkis!

anybody know what kinda tires were on the hotchkis celica during those tests?? the spoon had "Yokohama Advan race tires and a stripped interior." the celi was in stock trim....

If they striped the celica .. and did the same mods as the spoon s2000. The s2000 would have its ass handed to it.
The Hotchkis celi was in FULL STOCK TRIM , with only suspension mods. How many cars can do that. None ... not to mention the s2000 has like estimitly 60+ HP .... and just about went even with the celi.
Sport Compact Car .... LOVES THE CELICA, it shows sooo bad in the magazine when they describe the celica in the testing days.
I heard the rumor about how one of the SCC peeps bought himself a New 7gen Celica, and is going to be the new Project celica.

Hotchkis also had race tires on (Yokohama A048's), but it ran with an interior.

Not entirely true. They also have an LSD and a Centerforce clutch. And I still think the LSD help improve the Hotchkis Celi's times by quite a bit.

let me get a third :werd: in there ... Hotchkis will dominate the track with the S/C celica. BTW J.C. Any new pics of it yet ???? any teasers?
