I know i have asked this question before. but i got 2 months before i get a new car. Hopefully being a 02 GTS 6-Speed. but if i can not afford the GTS i will either go with a GT or another car all together.(WANTING THE GTS!!!). anyways well i want to do mods to it. i am want to get the Injen CAI but i do not want to cut a hole in my car.. that sounds soooo bad... how big is this hole and is it really hard to install. the main reason i want the CAI is because of the sound :). my friend put a CAI in his mr2 and i was like holy ****!!! it sounded loud as hell. So back to the main question does the short ram give off as great of sound as a CAI. and proforance wize i know the CAI gives u 5-15hp what does the short ram give ya?.
thanks
P.S. if i can't afford a GTS, what is another car i can get for like 22 and below that looks nice and is fast other than the GT.?
thanks again

i don't know about the sounds, but i think the cai gives a deeper sound than the short ram. as for another car, the rsx type-s is a good car to start with. suspension is one thing that needs tending to.
as for the cutting, it's not all that bad. it's just the plastic wheel well. everything still holds together. it's not like you're cutting into the frame.
as for gains, i don't know. they're slightly off but each intake has their pros and cons.

The ideo of cutting my Celica is also what prevents me from getting CAI. Is there no cutting required for the short ram?

i have no experience with the short ram, but there is more cutting that i forgot about on the engine plastic pipes.

I have had both the Injen CAI and the Short Ram. The CAI has a deeper sound while the short ram has a higher pitched sound. As for HP, I believe that the short ram has about 4-6 hp more over factory. (I also have a GT-S auto, so manual #'s are going to be higher)
As for cutting, all you have to take out is the plastic piece that is right by the stock airbox. That is so that the filter has more room. Also, now that I have my CAI, I never cut out any of the plastic wheel well. I don't know by doing that gives me more HP, but I feel safe that less water will be going in there when it rains.

do you have a splash guard?
can u explain why you have to cut into your wheel well?

the only way to truly understand this is to remove your front bumper. on the driver's side, look at the wheel well. you'll see an opening that leads to your engine. the wheel well slightly blocks this opening. it blocks it just enough so that a pipe as large as the cai will not fit. btw, it's where the pipe goes through. so you have to cut away this portion in order for the cai to fit.
