can stock lude really beat a modded GTS?

when I went to KCIR I saw a stock? 5th gen lude running 15.6
it had rims and the stock exhaust.

I was always in the 14s

even when I got a 2.6 60ft I was still around 14.9x

No, because a stock Prelude is slower than a stock GT-S. Trust me, I test drove both cars before choosing the Celica. That and I didn't want to be on the Honda Bandwagon. I have yet to lose to a Prelude.

I've read that stock Ludes are capable of 14.9. I've seen many GTS drivers with I/E posting times in the low 15s. I've also seen some GTS owners with I/E posting high to mid 14s. So it really will depend on the driver. Prelude's problem is that it's a porker.

when i first got my GTS, i lost to a 'lude by a hair, shifting at 6900-7000 as i was still breaking in the engine. terrible launch also. no doubt a STOCK gts could beat a STOCK or mildly modded lude as the person i was racing launched and shifted perfect running to redline, not an SH but yes vtec

Not that it matters, but I raced a Prelude and lost by two car lengths. Not too bad. It was colder than **** that night too so we both had pretty ****ty launches... tires were cold

for everyone that pisses on the idea of a Prelude beating a Celica go to www.racevidz.com and watch the prelude videos vs the celica..he races two members from this site and beats them both (they all have i/e)...when they off the line the Preludes torque gets it ahead in quite a hurry but once they're going and hit it the Celica takes a couple of feet...then again he didn't have a passenger and the prelude did...bottom line if the Prelude driver knows how to get his tank off the line it'll be a close one.

there are few cars as evenly matched as the 5th gen lude and the Celica GT-S...just my opinion:D

i raced a new prelude, 5 speed, CAI, short shifter, exhaust, and DR's on it when /I only had my old dual exhaust, no h pipe, or anything else other than CAI. I raped him off the line cuz of my torque (funny hearing a 2.2 driver talkign down to a 1.8 driver about his "torque" advantage) and then pulled on the 'lude another 3 cars with several witnesses.. yes he stayed in VTEC, his cam was loud as hell, and no he had no chance. his car was well maintained, and we repeated the run, also later did one for a roll and no matter how you stacked it, his car was much slower than mine, and a I/E GTS celica at that time would walk me to the tune of 2 cars.


so No i'm not going to believe another inernet car owners site and their hearsay over the plain old truth. the 5th gen's are too heavy for the peaky, small motor that the car has.

so basically you're saying the Celica is just that much faster? Go to www.racevidz.com and watch the two Celicas with I/E (just like the lude) get their butts raped...it's very close as i said...i don't think either car is faster..it depends on the driver..I've heard Celicas are tricky to drive, and as are Preludes...the stock tach is off so instead of shifting at 7,400 you have to shift at a tach indicated 8,000 or so (which is 7,600 on the motor) to yeild the best power...people who don't visit Prelude forums are not aware of this...o well, I'm looking forward to racing a GT-S...if he beats me, that's fine, it's a nice car..I'll just keep practicing my driving techniques;)

don't rely on those video's too much..all it would take is for the celica guys to not hit lift on the 1-2 shift and they're mid 15 second cars or worse;)

named PreludeLC has only gotten a best of 14.7 at the track.

it looks like the celica's driving on that video are about 16 sec cars. slower than crap. sorry but that's bs.

but I would never post a video of us driving and go to every internet board showing how "slow" the prelude is.

I don't agree with you moderator, i personally have never once seen a celica gt-s beat a prelude at the track. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but from my experience, The Prelude seems to be a faster car.

Or maybe us honda guys are just better drivers :)
