What is a good way to mask the Toyota EMBLEM on the engine plastic?? The VVTL-i is easy to mask but the EMBLEM is hard. You guys know an easy way??? or you think i can spray over it then just scratch it off after???????

I think I heard somewhere that you can use petroleum jelly on it and just wipe it off.... but don't quote me on that. I just heard it somewhere.

If you are painting the plastics, spray the entire area then paint the logo another color with a small brush. The jelly idea may work but I've never done it.

Most people either try and tape it, or just go with the re-painting thing. Never heard of the petroleum jelly thing though, sounds interesting...

i heard that petrolium jelly idea works, sounds easier than masking stuff off too.

I did a crappy job the first time I painted mine plastics. I just took some rustoleum and sprayed it. Now it's starting to crap, how do I go about repainting it? Do i have to sand? What did you guys use? I want it shiny

What did you guys use? I want it shiny Sand down the plastics first with either sandpaper (not too rough, maybe around 400-600 grit) or a gray scuff pad. Then spray on at least two coats of primer and 3 coats of paint, using 600 grit sandpaper in between. The sandpaper will help each layer stick better, and it will remove any imperfections on that coat (dust, bumps, etc.). Finally, use one or two coats of clearcoat if you want it to be really shiny.

Simple Green for the cleaning. Silicone spray to make it look nice.
