ok Im tired of all this **** going on around here and people talkin behind my back.. so here it goes..

about a month ago, on 11-13-01 I went out for a drive around 11ish like I normally do becuz Im bored. Im pulled out of my developent, turned left.. ran 1st gear and put it in 2nd was driving in 2nd at about 50mph when something jumped out in front of my car.. I saw it and hit my brakes..unfortunately without ABS the tires just locked up instantly.. The car was sliding towards this animal.. not sure wth it was (bigger then dog, maybe a small deer).. anyhow as I was saying the car was sliding towards this animal and at the last second I spun the wheel sideways and went off the side of the road where I went through 2 bushes and into a lake.. its a run off drain for rain, but its about as big as a small lake and about 10ft deep. Anyhow by the time I realized what happened I could see the water up on the hood and it was inside the car up to my knees already. I pushed my seatbelt off and opened the door and pulled myself out of the car. I fell into the water up to my neck and started swimmin as hard as I could. The seatbelt caught me and almost pulled me back to the car but I kicked my way free and swam away. By the time I pulled myself up onto the ground out of the water the car was 90% under. I tried to call 911 but my cell phone was in my pocket and obviously didnt work anymore from the water. So I sat there and tried to wave down cars as they passed by.. 11 at night, there was only like 5 cars in about 10 min span and only one stopped.. He didnt have a phone but siad he would call when he got home.. I watched my car go completely under helpless, nothing I could do about it. I finally got pissed with the passers by that wouldnt stop and walked to a close house and knocked on there door. They gave me dry clothes and called 911. I waited till the cops came.

thats about it.. the car is totaled..18,500 in damage not including the engine. Now Im fighting the damn insurance company to pay off the car.. Its been a month and nothing yet.. I didnt want this posted here because I dont want it to be an insurance liability.. But its out now anyhow so whatever.

I bought a new car 2 weeks ago. Its a 98 Eclipse GST Charcoal i color.. I was gonna buy another Celica but the dealership was an ass and they wouldnt budge on price.. Hell ask Draper, I was thinkin about importing a Celica from California but said **** it.. Anyhow thats what happened..

That is why posts referring to me have been disapearing and users have been banned becuz they are asses and there out to try and hurt me and I wont put up with that.. if you dont have a clue what Im talkin about the post im referring to is below..

Sh1t I should've told him to delete his own post when i saw it at like 5am... Anyway... I like the NC.org forum much more than any others cause of the size of its member base, but just like carlos could've talked to larry and asked him about it privately, larry could've talked to carlos about it privately after deleting the post. In either case whoever told carlos is an ass cause larry said that no one should say anything cause b/c of this insurance business.

His situation is already delicate as it is without people going on and claiming fraud and stuff. How could you even think of larry doing such a thing after all the money he put into his car. And if it was fraud, why didnt he take very salvageable pieces of euqipment from the car that were obviously ruined... even if he wanted it to look real there is more than enough there to prove it was real.

I think that no matter what's happened to what members we're all i support of larry getting his new ride and getting the claim money for his other car. No one wants to pay for a car that was forced to the bottom of the lake by a bastard dog. So just like I said although i dont support larry completely in banning carlos (could've talked to him)... I do support him completely in his deleting the posts to protect his interests from anyone who's just itching for a reson to ill-legitamize a perfectly legitamate claim.

Well, that certainly sucks. Look at it this way LD, The celica seemed to be cursed anyway. Sure I would have hoped that you would have bought another Celica, but whatever...doesn't mean this site still can't be for devoted celica fans (whether you own one or not).

Too bad they totalled the car. I thought with fresh water they could salvage this kind of thing. Guess not.

i once saw a guy's jeep get sucked under while he was driving on a sandbar...

What about your sponsors. Will they jump over to a GST project car with you?

ps. Will we miss Carlos, maybe....and then again, maybe not.

I love the Celica to death still.. Infact i wanted to buy another Celica but the dealerships wouldnt budge on the price so I said screw it and got the other car that I always wanted.. the Eclipse for which I hve lots of plans.. Crankwalk..eh.. I hate that word..its evil as for the website.. I will not lose interest.. Hell i just flagged down another Celica owner tonight and talked with him for an hour about parts.. I love Celicas and half my friends still own Celicas so nothing with the site will change..

If anyone is interested Ive taken lots of pics of the Eclipse already.. Ive bought some mods too.. This car is fun, but has some serious issues.. but then again what car doesnt right :)

Damn Larry sorry to hear that happend to you :sad The insurance companies can be asses 99% of the time, that's why I havn't reported any of my..misfourtunes to them. Hope you have luck with them.

Oh and its weird..but I got a GST also, its red and its a 98 and I've also got a celica gts. Unfortunately the gst is an automatic =( because it was the only one available within 50 miles in ok condition.

I really have no point in what I'm about to say. But I feel like letting it off my chest. This goes to everyone arguing back and forth. Some people make mistakes and don't realize it. What business is it of anyone on what happened to Larry's car? Or even what carlos said? That's between him and larry. People point fingers and blah blah blah. To be quite honest I think some people on here might take what they have for granted. NOT EVERYONE, some people. I'm a owner of a auto gts and have nothing done to it other than a custom exhaust. I could barely afford that. Some of you people have a lot done to your cars and it's nice to see that you worked for it. But, if you go at it with a attitude like it's nothing than you don't really know how to live life. I myself want a lot of things and have to work hard to get what I want. I can't just go and spend 200 dollars like that. I'm not lookin for sympathy I'm just saying. With everything going on in the world right now and it becoming the holiday's why should we even bother on something so pointless? I mean some peoples lives are involved here. You all can flame me or do what you wish but just remember most of you are luckier then the next guy... Have a happy holiday season....

Yeah it sucks that Larry lost his car. I also think this is another example of how things are handled poorly around here sometimes. Larry, if you truly were trying to avoid a deer and the car slid into a retention pond, then that is the situation and who cares what people who weren't there and who may hold grudges against you think. I personally think it looks worse that you are going around "covering up" all this stuff. I also can't agree with banning people from this site for having a difference of opinion. It is Timeport's right to say what he wants. People seem to like it when the membership count goes up, and NC.org is featured in magazines like SCC, but then they run the site like tyrants and ban whoever they don't like. IMO, if you want to run a truly great site, the owner/moderator has to remove himself personally and emotionally from what is said and follow a set of rules. I think the Xanatos thing was a good example. While I agree that the guy was a problem, I feel that people picked fights with him and weren't sanctioned in the same way that the moderators were sanctioning Xanatos himself.

Larry, I truly wish you the best of luck with your insurance company and with your new car, but I also think that if you want to be the owner of the largest Celica site on the Internet, you better be prepared to take some flak from time to time, whether its justified or unjustified.

Carlos was not banned becuz of his opinion of my accident.. Carlos was banned becuase he copied and pasted my conversation with moderators from mods only which means in some part some way he managed to find out what was being said.. and I dont tolerate that. Its his opinion on what happened with my accident and he is entitled to that, but not having part to do with the hacking of my website and my account which was deleted this afternoon..

I also understand as the owner of this website I will have to take flack from time to time but coming on here and accusing someone of a criminal offense is not a joke. This is very real people and we are talking serious consequences if the insurance company decides that the truth isnt the truth.. There isnt anything I can do about it but keep telling them over and over exactly what happened and hope they believe me, and having you doubt me on here does not help my situation..

We all know the 'story' now...of what happened to Larry's car, of who's been banned, and of who's being blamed for the hacking. But if Chiggy and Static have both denied responsibility for the hacking, or anything, publicly, then I think Larry should owe them proof. Chiggy and Static have done their job well. If they're being blamed, show the proof.

And no excuses like "I don't want to make the proof public, etc etc"...Brian is ASKING for you to post proof.

I dunno man. This site is fukking awesome. I've learned so much about my car, and met so many chill peeps. Now this soap opera comes about and one of the oldest, chillest people get banned, two chill admins get blamed for something they deny responsibility for...this sucks.

Well, of course, this is Larry's site and his word is the only word. But please don't let this site get filled with anymore animosity. People WILL lose interest in this site very quickly. And it would be absolutely terrible if this site went to hell.

Work this sh!t out. Please.

no one is blaming either of the admins for what happened.. but I can tell you that there were 3 posts copied from moderators only to general discussion and the only people who have that right are the moderators and the only active accounts are static, chiggy and myself. I know that they didnt do it, I also know who did do it, and from what account but at this point in time I can not trust anyone to have an admin account other then myself until this whole ordeal is done with..

I still trust Chiggy adn Static as if there family and I hate to piss either of them off, but this is not a joking matter, this is serious..

So, if I understand it the right way, the only reason why they are no longer moderator ( for the moment ) is because
Larry had problems with the hacker and he wants to find out how this guy did it. Therefore he had to "stop" all the other moderators for a while.

I don't see the problem and don't understand why Chiggy is so upset. He's not blamed at all !!!!!!!!!!!!

Tough break larry, but look at the bright site, you got a GST!! Allow me to be the first one to post the link to www.clubdsm.com After you get through with tough times, you'll need it! Might have been worth taking a look on www.dsmtrader.com for a car too, I'm not sure what you were looking for as far as options.

About the crankwalk... Many shops will now do the 2G->1G motor swap. Jeff Hill at turbo trix just did his first car and estimates labor to be 1000-1500 + parts. Used Evo motors from Japan are readily available with ~30K on them and are ~1200 including shipping. So, if you had not already known this, you have options so that you may never have to worry bout the good old c walk. take care ;)

I agree with your decision to ban Carlos. You can't tolerate stuff like that on a site like this. If you let it go, the site falls apart. I would have banned him.

Yeah Larry, sorry about things are going, but they can only get better.

i think this entire situation is messed up. first of all, if you've been here long enough, even just by viewing the boards everyday (like me) i dunno how you'd even comprehend larry messing up his car for insurance fraud. it's kinda ridiculous really cuz he had just recently gotten most everything (engine/tranny) back under control...

i can't believe people would act like such asses when something like that happens to someone like larry. he loved his celica probably more than most other people here loved their celicas. you can ask anyone who's lost their car or had it messed up for a period of time how ****ty it feels. watching your baby drown while soaking wet and shivering is like some horrible nightmare. you'd have to pay me way more than what an insurance company would give to get me to even think of doing something like that. who cares if he drives a GST now? you heard how hard he tried to get a celica again, but everyone knows toyota dealers are assholes. honestly, anyone who says he shouldn't run a celica site anymore cuz he doesn't own anymore should just shut up. larry's done way more for the celica enthusiast community than anyone else, and knows a ****load more about this car than most other people.

i don't think he should've banned timeport (i'd just have talked to him), but that's me. i'm not him. he's entitled to whatever he wants, and i believe he was fair enough if he had apparent evidence someone was hacking his site (That's another nono, people hate it when you hack their site, i speak from personal experience) and he could've linked it to timeport (but i dunno if he did or didn't, and i dunno much else, which is why i still think he should've discussed it with timeport rather than ban him BUT if he had plenty of reason and like i said, it's his site. i'll take it like it is and support him).

Holy crap!, I hadn't check the site for a few weeks and all this happened?! Larry man, I know it's kinda late, but still, sorry to hear about your car. I went into a small canal once too. Not 10ft deep though. About 3 inches of the roof stuck out from the water in my case, but yeah, it sucked royally. Sorry to hear that. Glad you're ok though.

Oh the side note, that pic that Xanatos posted up on the celica.net site was plain wrong. That kid needs a big kick up the ass.

Never met ya in person, hardly spoke to ya on here. But I can say that I know what it's like to lose something you care about, even if it's an inanimate object. That car was your blood sweat and tears, just like mine have been mine, and i can't imagine how it would feel to have people bashing on you like that.

After reading through all of this drama about the accident and the finger-pointing...

Those of you who criticize Larry for ditching the Celica for a GST need to fsckin get a life. A car is nothing more than something to get you around...and like other material positions, you can't take it with you when you die. Larry D should be fortunate that he was not killed in that accident. Yes, he lost his baby, but it is not the end of the world. At least he has another day to wake up to. Put yourselves in that position. What if the next day your Celi was no more? Just because he owns a different make does not mean that everything he knows about the Celica went out the door...

We all know that Toyota dealers are a bunch of pricks...I believe Larry 110%.

As far as the hacking incident and what was posted over at celica.net, that was some real fscked up issh. Too bad they don't have the huevos to step up to Larry in real life like that...they feel invincible behind a computer screen. They got what they deserved.

Oh yeah, last time I checked, computer hacking *is* a crime, even if it is "just a board."

Larry's life behind the wheel is much like a video game, say Grand Theft Auto 3 or something.... except he is not a criminal, but he's done things people like myself would only do in video games... like try and outrun the cops and stuff :) but this site is great, my purpose here is to educate myself about the Toyota Celica 2k+ even though I don't own one. I am a car lover, and I belong to a few other car message boards of vehicles that I really love. The Celica being one of them. This has always been a resourceful place to me, but GOOD information on the Celica has lacked for a long time since the REAL performance market is stuck in first gear for the Celica 2k+.

Just my 2 cents. Thanks for this wonderful message board, it brings interest to my boring life :)

That sucks hardcore to lose your car like that, but as you eluded, even though the car is gone and you weren't able to get a new Celi, you walked away from the whole thing in one piece...

Hey. I guess now we know. But it didn't really mattered to me. I had even forgotten about it. I understand how you feel. When my fiancee's little brother wreck the previous celica, my emotions were incredibly jumbbled. Happy that my fiancee wasn't in the car, sad because he destroyed the car and my work, and pissed because he basically stole the car and the prosecutors wouldn't prosecute because it was family. So we had to file under collision/comprehensive to get any money, which shot the insurance high. (As you can tell, i'm still a little pissed.)

Anyhow, everyone looks on the bright side and life goes on. BTW --- don't we have some lawyers as a sponsor?? Why don't you use them?

fack man.... totally messed up with what happened and TRUST ME .... i know how you feel towards others saying "fraud" !!

you may know how my celica broke down about a month ago and within 5 hours it was stripped because i was the ****in' stupid ass thinkin' it'd be safe till mornin'

now... the whole area where i live knows about it and what happened and so forth.... an of course... a lot of rumors have been flying around about ME possibly committing fraud .......

TOTALLY NOT TRUE !! (i mean.... they ****in' caught the two guys... arrested 'em... charged 'em both with felonies and recovered some of my stuff..... so before you talk about it know the true facts !!)

these rumors have circulated so much to the extent that people down in portland, oregon (biggest city around me - 50 miles away) know and have heard of it - people i don't even know !!

anyways.... rumors do suck big hairy...sweaty... balls !! i feel ya

It sounds like you had a night from hell. I'm sorry to hear about your Celica, as it was one of the sharpest looking cars out there. In fact, I'm having a hard time adjusting to the new photo in your sig, with that stock Mitsu from wayyy back in the 90's with the big balloon tires on it! I sure hope she likes to dance, cause she's not the looker ex was. ;)

Good luck with your new project, and don't spend all of your money on it. lastly, I hope you can remain a Celica fan, even though you may run with a new crowd.

yeah I know it doesnt quite turn the heads the way the Celica did but give me some time.. once I get wheels, kit, hood, and lowered the heads ill be turning again :)

I personally dont think that Larry should have told anyone about his car situation. Sure, it would be obvious that you switched cars eventually, but why share all the details? If you want that info to be hidden, then keep it hidden. I dont think it was wise to post on a Internet message board, regardless of whether that forum was restricted or not.

If I were in Larry's case, I wouldn't have told anyone, aside from a few close friends over the PHONE or in person, until this whole insurance mess was settled.

All the speculation as to what really happened; well, I'm gonna believe what Larry says. Why not? People probably didn't know the situation well, thought that Larry was going through all sorts of problems with his car, and thought he did what they probably would have done.. commit insurance fraud.

As for Timeport, I'm surprised that he wasn't banned earlier. By not having him around, what are we missing out on? Audio hookups? Blatant racism? I thought Timeport was valuable to this board because of his knowledge in car audio, but I certainly didn't appreciate the racist comments.. I'm surprised that Larry didn't do this earlier, and he probably should have taken some action.

Anyway, interesting what happens when you leave for a month.

well since u were gone for a month u didnt notice I did try and keep it from the board.. I told very few of my close friends what happened and within weeks people we online messging me asking me what happened to my car.. I posted in moderators only to ask them to delete posts as they came up and they wanted to know why so I told them, ofcouse then the site was hacked and the post was copied to GD for eveyone to read.. nice of em huh :)
