I'd go with the Boxter, not everything is about speed.

True Willy, though the M3 is A) faster than the boxter S, and B) out handles it. Plus you can take 3 other people with you!

i was thinking m3 is faster by a bit, but boxter handles much better?
i not sure never drove these two, but that's what i read from some random reviews

Don't get me wrong, the M3 is a sweet car and I like them a lot...but I love a hot looking convertible with great handling and good power. Exactly why I'd take an S2000 over a 350Z at the same price.

No worries Willy, I see your point. Also, someone check back. I know Car and Driver, or Road and Track did a comparo between a new M3, a Z06, and a Boxter S. The Z06 was fastest, obviously, but if memory serves correctly, the M took the slalom, and was 2nd fastest (though I could be wrong).

I'd go with the M3 handsdown

M3. That car is the perfect balance of luxury and performance.

For that money, I would get a Sun International Elise with the B18C5 and blow the both of them away.

so? Boxter S is more expensive than BMW anyway... even if he have said 911, I would still like M3...
dont get me wrong, both 911 and Boxter S are awesome cars that I would normally drool over, but M3 is M3... that thing just freakin owns every other vehicle on the road...

Too bad it looks ugly as hell. 97% of the cars available as a convertible look like absolute sh*t with the top down. Only a handful look good, and the M3 isn't one of them.
BTW, have they fixed the problem with all the M3's blowing their engines?
M3 is really fast and all, but the Boxster looks prettier and more expensive but is not too slow.

One problem with the M3 it looks like every other 3 series saloon car which are common as muck here... but that can also be good if you like a sleeper car.. just have to try and hide those 4 exhuast pipes! ;)
the porsche would out handle the m3 if both are stock any day of the week.

M3 for sure. For the price you are buying high end BMW. For me personally it's either the best or nothing. I've driven the boxster and it didnt feel all that satisfying. If I were to get a porsche it would be 911 turbo or atleast a carrera.
It will also be my next car when the next gen of M3 comes out.
